Why Bryan Greenberg Is Calling Suits LA His ‘Dream Job’

Bryan Greenberg is just one of the stars putting the suits in Suits LA.

“He has this code of ethics, and to juxtapose that into the world of Hollywood, where people do not share those ethics and beliefs, that’s what you want,” Greenberg, who stars as Ric Dodson, head of entertainment law at Railsback Lane, told Us Weekly exclusively. “You want obstacles as an actor. I think of Rick as trying to keep his integrity in a snake pit.”

In the NBC series, Greenberg, 46, plays a good guy who will not cut corners to get what he wants. As a result, he is often tasked with reminding some of his fellow lawyers (and possible love interests), like Lex Scott Davis’ Erica Rollins, to play by the rules.

“They’re lawyers, so even in love, everything’s a negotiation and everybody’s trying to win. They’re highly ambitious [and until recently were] coveting the same position,” Greenberg noted of the show’s characters. “They just have completely different worldviews.”

While he couldn’t answer if Rick and Erica were endgame, Greenberg did give Us the inside scoop on having OG Suits star Gabriel Macht on set. (Macht, 53, reprised his role as Harvey Specter for a three-episode arc on the spinoff.)

Jordin Althaus/NBC Suits and Suits LA might have the same premise, but they are drastically different shows at their core. That being said, there are some similarities between the two. The spinoff series — which premiered on Sunday, February 23 — introduced fans to Stephen Amell’s Ted Black, a hotshot lawyer who has his own […]

“He sent us all a very nice text when we first got [cast], saying, ‘This was one of the greatest jobs of my life. I’m passing the baton on to you,’” Greenberg gushed. “Just nothing but good things to say about him.”

The actor also gave the original Suits cast their flowers, explaining that he “wouldn’t have a job without them,” so having Macht come back meant a lot.

“He’s happily retired and chilling with his family,” Greenberg explained. “He did not need to come back, but he did it for the fans and for us.”

David Astorga/NBC As if there wasn’t enough anticipation around NBC’s Suits LA, the legal drama is bringing in some familiar faces — including a cameo or two from the original cast. Set in a fictional New York City corporate law firm, the original Suits followed associate lawyer Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), who started working […]

The best part about the Suits LA gig for Greenberg? Being able to shoot in Los Angeles, where he lives with wife Jamie Chung and 3-year-old twin boys. (The cast originally shot the pilot in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.)

“It was always the dream job, but my family is in L.A. I brought my sons to set. I get to be a part of their lives,” he said. “For the locations, you can’t do that somewhere else. You can’t recreate a Hollywood Boulevard or the CAA building. It’s called Suits LA. It helps that we wear suits and it helps that we shoot in L.A.”

Suits LA airs on NBC Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
