Where Married to Medicine’s Dr. Contessa Stands With Dr. Heavenly

Married to Medicine’s Dr. Contessa Metcalfe is still looking for the right prescription to mend her friendship with Dr. Heavenly Kimes.

“It ebbs and flows, right? We’re both Type-A personalities. We’re just both bulls in a China shop,” Contessa, 38, exclusively shared with Us Weekly earlier this month. “It’s going to always be this kind of power struggle. Like, who’s going to give in first? When it comes to the group and the betterment of what’s good for everybody else, I never want to be a distraction.”

As the cast headed to Florida for another memorable couples’ trip — which continues airing Sunday, February 16, on Bravo — Contessa knew she wanted to break the ice with Heavenly, 54, by giving her a giant hug.

“I feel like if we’re taking away from the light playfulness of how the group can move, then I’m going to be the one who bows down first every single time,” she explained to Us. “I was in the military. It’s team first. That’s what I always try to do. … I’m not about to ruin this vacation by making it messy.”

There’s nothing quite like beef on Bravo — and it turns out Kenya Moore, Teresa Giudice and Candiace Dillard Bassett dish it the best. While Contessa and Heavenly once had a strong sisterhood and friendship, the pair grew apart thanks to questionable social media behavior and explosive fights that left the cast divided.

As season 11 continues to play out, Contessa said her walls are up with how much she can truly trust her costar.

“You wouldn’t trust her with your diary, with your pin number,” she joked. “You wouldn’t trust her with your kids and your grandkids and your aunties and cousins and sister — nothing.”

In a previous episode, Heavenly said she appreciated Contessa’s friendliness in Florida saying, “This is the Contessa I like. The other bitch I don’t — but I don’t ever know what bitch I’m gonna get.”

While Contessa has found allies in Phaedra Parks and Lateasha “Sweet Tea” Lunceford this season, she can’t help but notice Heavenly’s changing relationships with a few other women.

“If you notice, there is this element of, like, [keeping people at an] arm’s length,” she claimed. “You don’t see a lot of vulnerable conversations with her. … You have that friend you go shopping with. You have that friend that you call when you are in an emergency. You have that friend that you call when you want to talk s— about somebody.”

Contessa said Heavenly is “that friend.”

“If you want to talk about somebody, that’s the person you call,” she said. “But when you want a true, intimate moment, she’s not.”
