Venus Williams Gushes Over ‘Lil Sis’ Serena at 2025 Super Bowl Halftime

Venus Williams is proving she’s her sister’s No. 1 fan after Serena Williams made a surprise appearance at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

“Lil sis killing it,” Venus, 44, wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, February 10, reposting Serena’s video from the performance. Venus also commented on Serena’s Sunday, February 9 post, “You did that!!! 💙✨.”

Serena, 43, shocked the audience when she was seen dancing on top of a platform while Kendrick Lamar rapped his Grammy-winning, controversy-courting smash “Not Like Us.” When the cameras panned to Serena inside New Orleans’ Caesars Superdome, the tennis legend was seen crip walking — which had a deeper meaning to Serena’s past.

Back in 2012, Serena made headlines when she won the “Golden Slam” title and celebrated by showing off her dance moves — and drew criticism from fans. (The dance was popularized by gang members in Compton, California, where both Lamar and Williams were raised.)

Serena Williams shocked the audience when she made a surprise cameo at the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show with Kendrick Lamar. “Let’s go Super Bowl halftime??! I died a little!” Williams, 43, wrote via X on Sunday, February 9, alongside a video of her dancing while rocking her performance outfit, which included a blue pleated […]

At the time, Serena responded to the comments in an interview with Us Weekly, saying, “It’s getting so much attention. It just happened. I was so excited that it just came out. I guess I’m good at it!” Serena claimed that she didn’t “care” about the criticism. “That’s the least of my worries,” she said. “I’m so excited I was able to do the dance. I’m glad I did it!”

While reflecting on her Super Bowl appearance on Sunday, Serena pointed to her past. “Man, I did not Crip Walk like that at Wimbledon. Ooh, I would have been fined! It was all love,” she said in an X post, captioning the clip, “Super Bowl halftime show babyyyyyyyyy.”

Venus, for her part, reposted a video of Serena’s controversial 2012 dance moves. “I just! @serenawilliams,” Venus wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, alongside a heart with arrow emoji.

Serena’s cameo on Sunday also fueled Lamar and Drake’s ongoing feud. In “Not Like Us,” Lamar, 37, seemingly tells Drake he “better not speak on Serena.” (Serena and Drake were romantically linked in the early 2010s — but never publicly confirmed their relationship.)

Serena previously poked fun at Lamar and Drake’s ongoing drama while hosting the ESPY Awards in July 2024, quipping, “If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that none of us, not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar. He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game, they’re going to Forrest Gump him. Seats taken.”
