Travis Kelce Jokes About Doing Cartwheels on Game Show Stage: Clip

Travis Kelce poked fun at his restrictive attire while hosting Prime Video’s Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?

The jokes were flying in Us Weekly‘s exclusive clip from the Wednesday, February 5, episode as Kelce, 35, asked the contestants a sports-related question.

“What American female gymnast has won over 30 medals at the World Championships and Olympics combined, including individual all-around gold at the 2016 Rio Games?” he read before both contestants simultaneously named Simone Biles.

Guest panelist and comedian Ron Funches brought the topic back to football, saying, “I believe her husband, [Jonathan Owens], now plays for my team the [Chicago] Bears.” One of the contestants questioned whether Funches, 41, ever showed an interest in gymnastics, to which he replied, “I am a gymnast now.”

Kelce got in on the fun by asking Funches to “do a cartwheel.” Fellow comedian Nicole Byer, meanwhile, took that as an opportunity to playfully challenge Kelce to do the same.

“Me? Not in this tight suit,” he quipped. There was nothing holding back Byer, 38, who proceeded to show off an effortless cartwheel on the stage.

There’s plenty of fun taking place on the debut season of Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? The Prime Video series puts a different spin on Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, which ran from 2007 to 2019.

Instead of recruiting middle school students, Kelce’s quiz show has contestants relying on celebrities including Nikki Glaser, Garcelle Beauvais, Lala Kent, Natasha Leggero, Lilly Singh, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Chad Ochocinco and more for help answering the trivia questions.

Before the show premiered in October 2024, Kelce discussed getting the chance to be a TV host.

“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?” he said in an April 2024 statement. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining.”

One month later, Travis called the experience “a blast” on his and brother Jason Kelce‘s “New Heights” podcast, adding, “To be honest, I always wanted to do something with a game show. I always wanted to be a part of it, whether I was a contestant, somebody helping out or hosting one.”

Dynamic duos! It’s hard to imagine some of the biggest TV hosts carrying on without their beloved sidekicks. The Ellen DeGeneres Show felt right at home when Stephen “tWitch” Boss joined in 2014 as its in-house DJ. Their on-screen bond later led to tWitch being featured as Ellen DeGeneres’ sidekick and announcer on Ellen’s Game of Games, which […]

While he’s best known for making plays on the NFL field — Travis and the Kansas City Chiefs are returning to the Super Bowl this month against the Philadelphia Eagles — the athlete has explored new passions over the past year, making his acting debut in FX’s Grotesquerie and has a role in Happy Gilmore 2.

“The biggest difference from being outside of the acting world and starting to get into it, is you’re very much in tune with scenes. You don’t want to get so much caught up with the lines, you want to be in the scene with whoever you’re acting with, right?” he shared on his podcast in May 2024. “I started off thinking, ‘Man, just memorize your lines. Memorize your lines.’ But [the] reality of things is you want to be able to take that scene from one point to the next and portray exactly what the scene’s meaning is.”

Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? airs on Prime Video every Wednesday.
