Tia, Tamera Mowry’s Bond Allows Them to ‘Sense’ Each Other’s Feelings

Tia Mowry revealed just how strong her twin bond is with sister Tamera Mowry.

During the Friday, October 25, episode of Tia Mowry: My Next Act, the actress, 46, was enjoying a date with a man named Charles when she was asked about her “nonverbal connection” with Tamera.

“We could literally read each other,” she told her date, recalling what it was like growing up with Tamera, 46. “I could really sense whatever she is feeling.”

Charles asked whether Tia expected to find someone else — such as a romantic partner — who could offer her the same type of harmony, to which she replied, “Yeah, of course.” Charles then attempted to guess what Tia was thinking… but wasn’t successful.

Twins Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry-Housley have gone through their respective acting careers side-by-side. The siblings rose to fame playing separated-at-birth twins on Sister, Sister from 1994 to  1994. Tia and Tamera have since costarred in Disney Channel’s Seventeen Again (alongside their brother Tahj Mowry) and Twitches franchise; a Lifetime movie titled Double Wedding; as […]

“I like Charles but he definitely isn’t my twin,” Tia joked in a confessional. “He is not on my frequency.”

Earlier in the episode, Tia opened up about her unusual childhood when she tried to balance attending school and auditioning for roles. Tia, however, was glad to have had Tamera by her side throughout the experience.

“We had classes together. It was fun and I am really happy I had my sister with me in high school,” she shared. “Going to high school with my sister was amazing. We never got into fights because they knew if they were to mess with one then they would have to mess with the other one. It was really nice to have that support system there.”

Tia and Tamera rose to fame when they played twins on Sister, Sister, from 1995 to 1999. They went on to costar in Disney Channel’s Seventeen Again along with their brother Tahj Mowry. The siblings also shared the screen in the Twitches movie franchise, Lifetime’s Double Wedding and their Style Network reality TV show.

“I learned how to make money and work hard at a young age. That has carried into adulthood, but at the same time it is a curse,” Tia admitted in an October episode of her reality series. “You are just a kid, and you are treated like an adult.”

Tia wasn’t always happy about what came with being a child star, adding, “There was a lot of pressure. It is your job to make people smile and laugh. It is your job — especially with Sister, Sister — to make this show successful.”

Tia Mowry: My Next Act has hinted that viewers will see Tia reunite with her onscreen mom from Sister, SisterJackée Harry — later in the season. As for Tamera, there weren’t any clips of her featured in the official trailer yet.

The WeTV series recently made headlines in October when a clip from the pilot showed Tia discussing Tamera, saying, “[I wish] I could pick up the phone and call her, but that’s just not where we are right now.”

Tia has since clarified to Us Weekly that her comments were taken out of context because she was discussing the physical distance between them.

“You could hear it from me, and this is basically what I was insinuating: I feel like as we grow up, we all start our own families and their children need to lean on them. We begin to take on new roles and responsibilities within our lives,” she explained to Us. “That is what that was all about.”

Tia continued: “I love my sister very much. She loves me very much. We have a closeness and a beautiful connection. But that’s what that was all about. It’s just how life unfolds, and it happens with many families.”
