The Golden Bachelor Season 2: Could Lead Be Mark or Charles L.?

As Joan Vassos’ season of The Golden Bachelorette comes to an end, questions have begun to swirl surrounding who will be crowned the next lead of The Golden Bachelor.

Several of Joan’s suitors have captured fans’ hearts, from Mark Anderson to Charles Ling and more. Mark — the father of season 28 Bachelor Joey Graziadei’s fiancée, Kelsey Anderson — exclusively told Us Weekly at the Men Tell All taping that he is “open” to take on the role of Golden Bachelor.

“[I’m] giving it some thought,” he told Us. “It’s a bit of a life change. But yeah, definitely thinking about it.”

For Charles L., the idea of being the season 2 lead was a “pretty new concept” to him. “If really an opportunity knocks on the door, maybe, probably I need to sort it out. And also I need to probably talk to my kids whether I should move on or not necessarily move on,” he told Us. “[It’s] kind of too early to make a call at this moment.”

Joan Vassos

When asked her thoughts on Mark or Charles L. being the next lead, Joan said she was “pro both of them” but would also be “pro other people too.” Joan noted that she could think of “at least five guys” that would be “really good” at being the Golden Bachelor.

“I think I could think of many more that I think would be really good,” she told Us. “And I think after people watch this [Men] Tell All that they’re going to see the same thing. That there’s a lot of personality and there’s a lot of kindness and really open men that could navigate this journey as well as I did. Or maybe even better because now they’ve kind of done it once. And so once you’ve watched it happen and what you’ve kind of gone through it.”

Gary Levingston

Gary gushed that there are “so many guys” that could be the next Golden Bachelor, “take that torch and run with it.”

“I think Jordan [Heller] would be a good Golden Bachelor. I think Keith [Gordon] would be a good Golden Bachelor. I think those two guys,” he told Us. “I’d like to say Mark, but I think Mark is more reserved. Those two guys have a bigger personality that would make room for a lot of entertaining moments.”

Jonathan Rone

Jonathan was confident that the lead would fall into place. “It’s kind of up in the air,” he told Us. “I mean, I just put my faith in trust in the franchise and the process that whatever happens is going to be the right guy.”

Keith Gordon

Keith gushed that Mark “embodies” the qualities of a Golden Bachelor. “He’s so nice,” Keith gushed. “He’s such a good human being. He’s such a great person. His heart is open to love.”

While acknowledging that fans have fallen in love with Charles L., Keith claimed that the retired financial analyst has “another step” before “this type of process.” Keith added, “But I think Mark is dating, going out and realizing maybe this is something that he could do.”

It’s time to meet the 24 Golden Bachelorette contestants looking for love with Joan Vassos — and Bachelor Nation will recognize one familiar face. Bachelor season 28 winner Kelsey Anderson’s dad, Mark, is one of the 61-year-old lead’s suitors, according to the cast announcement from ABC on Tuesday, August 13. (Kelsey’s mom, Denise, died in […]

Pascal Ibgui

Pascal told Us that he would be interested in being the Golden Bachelor if the show could “lower the age.” He added, “Yes, I’m old, but I don’t go out with a 72-year-old woman.” (OG Golden Bachelor Gerry Turner was 72.)

In his eyes, the Golden franchise should be modified to only have contestants hailing from the same city as the lead so that there is no long-distance relationship. Pascal explained that it “doesn’t make sense” to him if he would have to travel via plane to see his partner.

While noting that he’s “not closing the idea” of being the Golden Bachelor, Pascal said he would pursue the opportunity if there was a “financial reward.” He concluded, “If I know what time of commitment and what is involved and if it fits my schedule, yes, why not?”

The Golden Bachelorette finale airs on ABC Wednesday, November 13, at 8 p.m. ET.
