The Braxton’s Tamar Braxton Debates Attending Towanda’s Wedding

Tamar Braxton isn’t sure where she stands with her older sister Towanda Braxton ahead of her magical wedding day.

In Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek of the Friday, October 17, episode of The Braxtons, Tamar, 48, reveals that she was invited to celebrate her family member’s upcoming nuptials in Tulum, Mexico.

“First of all, when I got the invitation, I had not talked to Towanda in a month and 10 days,” Tamar claims in the preview. “I’ve told you all before that the only time I hear from Towanda is when we filming. That is not a lie.”

Producers proceeded to play a clip from last season of The Braxtons when the sisters admitted they don’t always keep in touch.

Loni Love broke her silence on her alleged drama with former The Real cohost Tamar Braxton, claiming the situation is one-sided. “I have no beef. That’s what I want people to understand,” Love, 54, claimed during Wednesday, August 6, episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen. “There is no beef.” When host Andy […]

“Outside of yesterday and today, when is the last time you talked to me?” Tamar asks Towanda, 52.

“I can’t recall,” Towanda replies. “It wasn’t my birthday because you didn’t call me.”

Without skipping a beat, Tamar laughs at the answer before dropping her facts. “Your birthday is in September,” she points out. “Here we are in March.”

While the past is important, Tamar is trying to focus on the present in Friday’s episode. When speaking with close friend and music executive Phil Thornton, the singer drops another bombshell that she may not make it to Towanda’s wedding because it falls on the same weekend as her birthday.

When reminded that she in fact is the maid of honor, Tamar appears to be unbothered.

“When I got the box, I’m thinking it’s a bridesmaid. She gave me the maid of honor,” Tamar recalls in a confessional interview. “Then I thought maybe this is an olive branch. Since [our sister] Traci passed, we are all really trying to rebuild our sisterhood, right? I send her a video telling her I agree. I never heard from her. Next thing I know, I got an invitation to Talum. Not one call from the wedding planner. Not one call from Towanda. I thought I was the maid of honor? The maid of honor works closely with the bride, right? It was a setup to show the people how I wasn’t there for her.”

While viewers will have to tune in to see Towanda’s side of the story, Tamar is confident in stating that things have been off with her older sister for a long time.

“Towanda and me specifically are going through — I don’t know what we’re going through — but we’re going through something and have been for years,” she shares. “I definitely don’t want to rain on her parade because this is her moment, her time.”

On the season finale of The Braxtons last fall, Towanda’s boyfriend of nine years, Sean Hall, popped the question while on stage during Toni Braxton and Cedric the Entertainer’s Las Vegas show.

At the time, Towanda revealed to People what Traci — who died from esophageal cancer in 2022 — would have thought about the long-awaited engagement.

“She would’ve been just as excited and just as happy,” she shared. “She would’ve had tears and crying and hugging to join in the joyous occasion of me finally being engaged.”

The Braxtons airs on We TV Fridays at 8 p.m. ET and streams on ALLBLK.
