Tattoo Artist Dishes on Jessica Alba’s ‘Personal’ Tattoo Amid Divorce

Hollywood’s go-to tattoo artist is dishing on the inspiration behind Jessica Alba’s post-split tattoo.

“The tattoo really speaks for itself — she really had a clear idea of what she wanted,” Daniel Winter, a.k.a. winterstone, exclusively told Us Weekly of Alba’s new “life is transformation is life” tattoo, written in cursive on her inner arm.

“She’s a very spiritual, lovely human,” winterstone continued. “We had such a great time together. There’s only good things to say about her. Jessica picked the quote and had a strong idea of what she wanted.”

Alba, 43, showed off her new ink via Instagram on Wednesday, February 26, weeks after the actress filed for divorce from her estranged husband, Cash Warren, on February 7. The couple separated on December 27, 2024, according to court filings.

“The current chapter,” Alba captioned the post.

“She was very happy, very confident and, [it] looked to me, ready to start a new life for herself,” winterstone explained to Us. “She had an idea [and] the quote was very personal to her. I showed her a few different versions of the types of writing [and] we both agreed the script was the move. I gave her a few options and she chose the one she liked.”

The artist, who specializes in fine line tattoos as a form of therapy (“Usually I’m doing tattoo therapy; a lost parent or family member or a celebration of a next chapter,” he explained), explained to Us that he felt as though Alba’s new ink did honor “an exciting new chapter for her.”

“I love helping people put something on their skin that helps them move forward,” winterstone added. “She had a great attitude and left happy. That is my favorite part of the job.”

According to the artist, the tattoo session wasn’t a solemn occasion, but rather “celebratory.”

“I loved that it was celebratory — it was a very celebratory appointment,” he explained. “I love doing tattoos for clients that have a significant moment they want to celebrate, whether it’s for a memorial or for a next chapter of life. That’s what this appointment was for.”
