Ariana Grande
“It is definitely just as exciting [as last year’s nomination] and kind of blindsiding. You don’t expect something like this, let alone [for it] to happen twice for the same role,” Ariana Grande told The Hollywood Reporter after earning a nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for playing Glinda in Wicked: For Good. “So I’m just deeply honored. I’m just really moved by it.”
Teyana Taylor
“Happy early birthday to meeeeeeeeeeeee! WOWWWWW! 9GG OBAA NOMMMMMMSSSSSSS?!!!!! Thank you to the Golden Globes for this honor that has left me speechless and teary eyed,” Teyana Taylor said in a statement after her nomination. “I’ve dreamed of this for so long, but God’s timing… whew, it hits different. This morning’s call felt like divine confirmation that every step, every lesson, every battle had purpose. Huge congratulations to every soul who touched ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER,” she added. “The cast, the crew, the creatives, the entire village that made this story come alive. And most importantly to the legendary PTA… thank you for your vision, trust, and brilliance. My gratitude is endless. We love you! CONGRATS.”
Cynthia Erivo
“This is a beautiful, beautiful surprise. It’s been a bit of a whirlwind from the beginning of the first film right through to this moment here. I don’t know that any experience is comparable. I don’t think I’ve experienced anything like it,” Cynthia Erivo told The Hollywood Reporter after scoring recognition for Wicked: For Good in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy category. “To be nominated twice with this movie is really special. I think that’s a testament to the work of Jon Chu and every single other person who has touched this set — Ari[ana Grande] and Jonathan [Bailey] and Marc Platt, who is our wonderful producer. Everyone has done such beautiful work, and I feel very lucky to be a part of it.”
Amy Madigan
“I am incredibly moved to be recognized by the Golden Globes today for my work as ‘Aunt Gladys’ in Zach Cregger’s film WEAPONS, and for also recognizing the film in the Box Office & Cinematic Achievement category,” Amy Madigan said after her nomination for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for Weapons. “To receive this recognition is a true testament to Zach’s original vision, and the work of a truly remarkable filmmaking team, including Leo Satkovich, Jason Collins, and Melizah Wheat who helped bring the look of “Gladys” to life, along with our costume designer Trish Summerville. This was a team effort, and I couldn’t have done it without them. The last few months have been overwhelming seeing audiences, critics and press alike respond to the film in such a positive way. Seeing everyone dressed up as ‘Gladys’ has been a blast! I’d love to give a shout out to all the other women in this category – Emily, Elle, Ariana, Inga and Teyana. They truly represent what women in film are all about.”
Stellan Skarsgård
“You make a film hoping the work resonates with someone, somewhere — for the small human moments it captures,” said Stellan Skarsgård, who earned a nod for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture for his role in Sentimental Value. “So the Golden Globe nomination is lovely, and the film and my cast being recognized is even lovelier. A decade after we first started working together, Coogler once again pushed us to unlock another level together. This film, built upon layers of complexities, taps into all of our histories. It’s a movie about love and loss, and asks us — what is the price of freedom? By recognizing this film, you are honoring our legacy and the legacy of an industry built on bold, original storytelling. THANK YOU.”
