Southern Charm 1st Look Hints at JT’s Unlikely Feud With Patricia

A recent sneak peek from Southern Charm season 10 appears to offer some insight on why JT Thomas quit the show.

The clip, released during Bravo FanFest in Miami over the weekend, showed 39-year-old JT in a rather awkward interaction with Patricia Altschul.

“Hi Miss Pat. I brought this cane for you,” JT said in the video. Patricia, 83, responded, “I don’t need a cane.”

JT clarified that it was “just for looks” as the rest of the group laughed. Madison LeCroy, however, did not find her castmate’s antics funny.

“Like, what the f— are you doing?” Madison, 34, said in her confessional. Patricia noted that she was “genuinely offended” by JT’s gift in her own confessional.

The cast of Southern Charm has been entertaining Bravo fans since 2014, but sometimes, their offscreen scandals and controversies overshadow their onscreen antics. When Southern Charm premiered, it starred Thomas Ravenel, Shep Rose, Cameran Eubanks, Craig Conover, Whitney Sudler-Smith and Jenna King. During season 1, Thomas met Kathryn Dennis, who is nearly 30 years his […]

“What’s next? A wheelchair,” Patricia added. “I don’t know what in the hell he was thinking. That’s kind of a stupid gift in my estimation.”

Venita Aspen, whose romantic connection with JT was teased in the Southern Charm trailer late last month, also weighed in on his snafu.

“You don’t give a woman past a certain age a cane, even if it’s bedazzled with jewels from Harry Winston,” Venita, 31, declared in her confessional. “I wish JT would have talked to me first, like he does with almost everything else.”

After the awkward moment, Patricia got up from her seat and walked away. JT could be heard in the background commenting about how she “turned my cane down.”

“I felt like saying, take this cane and shove it,” Patricia said while walking away, through laughter. In his own confessional, JT noted some “coldness in the air” between himself and Patricia.

The clip flashes forward two months to Craig Conover accusing JT of calling Patricia “a bitch” after the cane incident.

“Craig, you lied, and you offended Miss Patricia,” JT said during a full cast dinner. “I didn’t say that word about her.”

Craig replied, “Yeah you did, you said she was a bitch of the cup when you handed her the cane. It was loud and clear.”

Weeks prior, JT took to Instagram and announced his resignation from the show as the Southern Charm cast continues to film the show. However, he did not offer any explicit details about his departure.

“It comes with a heavy heart to share that I have resigned from Southern Charm,” he wrote on November 8. “Yesterday, I informed Bravo that I will not be participating in the 2-3 remaining green room interviews before [the season] airs 12/5. I’ve done about ~9 thus far leading up to today. I no longer wish to participate in any way moving forward with the TV show.”
