Sophia Bush and Ex-Husband Grant Hughes Finalize Divorce

Sophia Bush and Grant Hughes are legally single after finalizing their divorce just before the new year.

The One Tree Hill alum, 42, entered into a confidential settlement with Hughes, 43, on Monday, December 30, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The exes’ divorce agreement came 16 months after Bush filed for separation.

Bush and Hughes were friends for years before they began dating in 2020. Us Weekly confirmed in May of that year that Bush’s “mystery man” was in fact the businessman.

More than a year after they publicly debuted their romance, Bush announced her engagement in August 2021.

“So it turns out that being your favorite person’s favorite person is the actual best feeling on planet Earth 💫 #YES,” she captioned a photo from the proposal in Lake Como, Italy.

Us confirmed in June 2022 that the pair tied the knot in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The following month, Bush and Hughes’ wedding was showcased in Vogue, but Bush later revealed that she got cold feet prior to the nuptials.

“In April of 2022 I was close to calling off my wedding,” she wrote in a Glamour cover story published in April 2024. “Instead of running away, I doubled down on being a model wife.”

Although Bush went through with the wedding, her and Hughes’ life as a married couple was short-lived. Two months after their first anniversary, Bush filed for divorce in August 2023.

According to the court filing, Bush listed their date of separation as June 27, 2023, just 16 days after their one-year anniversary.

In January 2024, Hughes filed a request with the Los Angeles Stanley Mosk Courthouse asking a judge to drop the mutual and temporary restraining order between him and Bush, according to documents obtained by Us.

The docs revealed that while Bush wanted their “unity agreement,” a.k.a. prenuptial agreement, to be upheld, Hughes asked that $300,000 be released so he could invest in real estate. The money was being safeguarded by their prenup.

At the time, Hughes’ request for the funds was accepted by the court — and no further details were publicly shared.

While Bush and Hughes navigated their divorce, the Chicago P.D. alum moved on romantically with Ashlyn Harris.

Bush and Harris, 39, sparked romance speculation in October 2023, but it wasn’t until April 2024 that the actress confirmed the relationship. At the time, Bush also publicly came out as queer.

The couple celebrated their first holiday season together by taking Harris’ kids Sloane, 3, and Ocean, 2, to Disneyland around Thanksgiving. (Harris shares her children with ex-wife Ali Krieger, whom she divorced in late 2023.)
