Skateboard Icon Tony Hawk Is Very Particular About His Taco Bell Order

Tony Hawk might not be hitting any more iconic half pipe tricks in the near future, but the skateboard legend isn’t interested in talking about “retirement.”
“I don’t know what retirement means,” Hawk, 56, reveals exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly, proving that he’s Just Like Us. “Keep doing what you love and that’s a mark of success, is what I say and what I do.”
From his perspective, he’s far from retired. “I honestly don’t even know what that will look like,” he says.
Hawk — who became the first skateboarder in history to land a 900, signifying the completion of two-and-a-half mid-air revolutions, in June 1999 — said he plans on skating for as long as his body will allow.
“I feel like if I can stand on my own two feet, I could put wheels underneath it,” he argues. “It doesn’t mean I’ll be doing kick flips, but yeah, for sure.”
Despite his penchant for risk taking, Hawk explains he’s been forced to start thinking about his health like any normal person who hasn’t spent their adult life spinning through the sky.
“I’ve learned to value sleep much more than ever these days,” he tells Us. “When I was younger, I was staying up late. I was on red eyes. I was getting up early to do things. It all catches up to you, Father Time, especially when you’re active.”
Hawk adds, “If I get seven or eight hours of sleep, it’s a gift.”
Keep scrolling to see how Hawk is just like Us:
Us: When was the last time you did laundry?
Tony: Oh, that was last week.
Us: What was the last thing you waited in line for?
Tony: I went to a college forum for my daughter [Kadence], and we waited in line at a couple of the booths for colleges.
Us: What is your go-to DoorDash or takeout order?
Tony: Oh wow, that is really tricky. Well, I do enjoy Taco Bell every once in a while, but generally I’m picking it up myself, so it’s usually pizza for the kids.
Us: Who was the last famous person you asked to take a selfie with?
Tony: Let’s see. It was probably Jack Black.
Us: What is one task or errand that you keep putting off or that you often procrastinate on?
Tony: Cleaning up the clutter of wires on my desk.
