Scheana Shay Claims New VPR Cast Is a ‘Hot Mess,’ Called for Advice

Scheana Shay isn’t just planning to watch the next season of Vanderpump Rules — she’s staying in the mix.

During the Friday, February 14, episode of her “Scheananigans” podcast, Scheana, 39, said she was still interested in the Bravo show despite being replaced by a new group of people, noting, “I feel like I have to but it’s going to be so weird. I do know a couple of the girls who have been asked to do the season.”

Scheana recently met some of the newcomers. “I was even there last week, my girlfriend from high school and I went out with Captain Jason [Chambers] and a friend from Bravo and we ended up at SUR, Craig’s, Cecconi’s and the Abbey,” she explained. “We made our West Hollywood rounds and when we were at SUR, one of the girls was asking me for advice and I just talked to her for so long.”

After seeing who will be taking her place, Scheana is even more intrigued, adding, “That made me want to watch it even more because I am so excited that I had this for 11 years and now I have other things I am working on.”

She continued: “But even if it’s a flop or even if it is a success, either way I am happy they are getting their shot for at least one season. I am so happy for them and I do kind of want to watch the hot mess that SUR that was once us.”

Scheana has been an OG cast member on Vanderpump Rules, helping launch the show by sitting down with Brandi Glanville on an episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2013.

While Scheana went on to be a main cast member for 11 seasons, she is stepping back now that season 12 is set to feature an entirely new cast from Lisa Vanderpump‘s restaurant SUR.

“So I don’t think they’ve announced who the cast is yet. I just know from still going to SUR and I am still friends with Peter [Madrigal], I talk to him often,” she shared on her podcast in December 2024. “One of the girlfriends who is one of my friends from the past, like, eight years, she is a SUR girlie.”

Scheana didn’t name the employee she was on good terms with, saying, “I think I met her in 2016 or 2017 so she’s been there for a while. I do know that she filmed some stuff. So if I get to watch her journey, she is someone I tried to bring on the show the last several seasons that I was working at SUR.”

Several Vanderpump Rules stars have stepped away from the Bravo series over the years. Cameras started following the staff at Lisa Vanderpump’s West Hollywood restaurant SUR in 2012 after she rose to fame on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Season 1 of Pump Rules, which premiered in January 2013, starred Lisa, Stassi Schroeder, Jax […]

After the podcast clip was shared on social media, Scheana’s comments section quickly filled up with people poking fun at her.

“You gotta love Scheana with this energy. 😂 of course, she’s gonna know the whole cast,” wrote one person while another added, “O mg is this the third week in a row she’s talked about the end of vpr/ new beginnings of vpr? Go find something else to talk about.”

Another follower speculated that Scheana was “planting the seed” so she can “get back” on Vanderpump Rules after Bravo overhauled the cast for season 12.

“I’m sure she’s BEST FRIENDS with everyone on the show. Lmao,” read a response, to which Scheana’s sister Cortney Erin wrote back, “Why is it shocking she’s friends with people she used to work with.”
