RHOSLC’s Angie K. Says Whitney ‘Deeply Regrets’ Reaching Out to Monica
Whitney Rose apparently “deeply regrets” contacting former Real Housewives of Salt Lake City costar Monica Garcia, if you ask Angie Katsanevas.
“When Whitney shared that with Mary [Cosby] and I, I knew immediately that it was a mistake because it would backfire on her and it did,” Angie, 51, exclusively told Us Weekly on Tuesday, November 19, while handing out cups of Van Leeuwen’s limited-edition RHOSLC-inspired ice cream called The SLC Scoop. “It took her back down to the bottom and now she’s dealing with a lot of toxicity, a lot of negative press over it.”
Angie continued, “I think she deeply regrets it, but it’s, again, the life lesson. And I think it was to prove something that didn’t help prove anything but just put her into a mess. I think she learned a lesson. She’ll never do that again.”
In an explosive trailer for the RHOSLC midseason finale that dropped earlier this month, Whitney, 38, stated that she had “reached out” to Monica, 41. (Monica left RHOSLC after season 4 following the reveal that she was behind the Instagram handle Reality Von Tease, a gossip account dedicated to discussing the Utah cast members.)
Angie further stressed to Us that she doesn’t understand why Whitney messaged Monica in the first place.
“I don’t know why Whitney would reach out to someone that has zero credibility, but I love Whitney,” Angie quipped.
Angie attended the ice cream event with costar Mary, who was equally surprised by the season 5 revelation.
“I feel like if you’re going to reach out to someone, do it because you’re reaching out for their benefit, you’re caring about how they’re doing and you’re really interested in their wellbeing — not reach out for spite or to find some personal gain,” Mary, 52, told Us. “That was my only thing about it. For me, you don’t do that, but it’s Whitney.”
Mary is also sporadically in contact with Monica.
“She’ll text me [here and there] and she follows me,” Mary said on Tuesday. “She has always encouraged me on certain lists.”
Angie and Mary can put the RHOSLC drama to the side, stepping out in unison to help launch ice cream shop Van Leeuwen’s new Bravo-inspired flavor. The SLC Scoop includes salt, lavender and caramel.
“It’s one of the best ice cream flavors I’ve ever tasted,” Angie gushed. “All that caramel with the salt. It’s incredible and it’s super sweet for being salty.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET and the SLC Scoop is currently available at Van Leeuwen shops nationwide for a limited time.
