RHOSLC Cast Teases ‘Different’ Season 5 Reunion
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City stars recently filmed their season 5 reunion, and they didn’t hold back.
“This reunion was different from others in the way that we got to the depths of the relationships,” Whitney Rose exclusively told Us Weekly at DIRECTV’s “Christmas at Kathy” Hilton’s party on Tuesday, December 10. “We actually got to the nooks and crannies of the problems when, in the past, it’s just been yelling and screaming.”
She added, “There’s a lot of yelling and screaming, gaslighting, crying, all of the tactics, but I feel like this reunion, we actually got in a few relationships to the depths of the problems. So to me, that’s beautiful ’cause maybe there’s a path forward.”
Whitney, 38, jokes that is “hoping for the fifth year in a row” that she and Lisa Barlow can stay on good terms (as they’ve never managed to make good on their reunion makeups for long).
“I hope so because after a season of being called a liar, when there’s no receipts of me lying about anything, clearly that’s a tactic of a manipulator,” Whitney said. “When someone calls you a liar, they’re scared you are going to say the truth about them, but I made a truce with her that I would never purposely try to hurt her. It’s a lot of back history, but I think that there was enough resolved and enough unresolved to move forward into another exciting season, hopefully.”
Lisa, 49, also teased the RHOSLC reunion resolutions that took place at the tell-all special during the Tuesday holiday gathering.
“I feel like there’s always some resolve at the reunions, but not everybody had resolution,” Lisa teased.
Whitney and Lisa have starred on RHOSLC since season 1, alongside Meredith Marks, Heather Gay and Mary Cosby. Angie Katsanevas and Bronwyn Newport later received their own snowflakes, becoming official series stars. (Jen Shah and Monica Garcia also briefly joined the ladies on the Bravo hit.)
Angie, 50, for her part, told Us on Tuesday that “it was probably our best reunion.”
“I think everyone worked through a lot of really hard issues and challenges,” Angie teased. “I think you see a lot of people that were able to reconcile that you wouldn’t expect. There were funny moments in there and it was 12 hours and it felt like two hours.”
She further noted that “there’s a lot of craziness,” including one Housewife who “might have almost” walked off the set.
“That’s probably all I can tease,” Angie stressed.
For Mary, the reunion felt like a “closed chapter” of season 5 — especially in terms of her friendship with Meredith, 52.
“It could come up again next year because you just don’t know with these ladies, they really forget it and let it go and move on,” Mary, 52, told Us at Hilton’s party, which was held at her private residence in Los Angeles. “But you know, it’s fragile.”
Mary added, “I apologized and said, ‘If I hurt you, I’m sorry. That’s not my intention, but you also have to take accountability. You hurt me too.’ She’s like, ‘Oh, I am, and I didn’t, I’m sorry.’ And then we made up.”
Newcomer Bronwyn, 39, also wanted resolutions going into the reunion.
“I felt like watching it — it was my first season watching myself back — there were lots of things I was unhappy with myself about or felt like I could work on,” Bronwyn told Us. “So, I went in with that mindset and I think some other people did and some did not, that’s what was a recipe for disaster.”
She only ended up making amends with “some” of her costars.
“I feel like that’s how that goes,” Bronwyn added, noting she even wishes Lisa well. “Lisa and I will probably not chat tonight. If I see her from afar, I wish her well [and would say,] ‘Merry Christmas, Baby Gorge.’ Maybe I’ll mail her that. I don’t know if we need to say it in person.”
During her chat with Us, Lisa said that their friendship status was “complicated.”
“When you ask your friend to do something for you and they do it, it’s the level of accountability you have to take for doing that,” Lisa explained. “I’m a Sagittarius, I move on.”
All in all, the RHOSLC ladies hope the various reconciliations are enough to start season 6 on the right foot.
“We’re gonna start filming again soon, so I think that’s very important,” Angie concluded. “We all get heated. We all say things that we regret, but to be able to move on, that was really cool to see some friendships that you didn’t know if they would ever come back together again.”
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City airs on Bravo Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET.
