RHOBH’s Erika Jayne on Why She and Costars Don’t Date in Season 14
Every Real Housewives of Beverly Hill star (except Kathy Hilton) was single going into season 14 — but don’t expect to see any new romances on the show.
“We don’t really see that this season with any of us. We’re all so self-obsessed,” Erika Jayne, 53, told Us Weekly exclusively while promoting the upcoming season. “What can I say? I mean, I am out here living my life. It would be nice to date and to do fun things.”
Erika confirmed to Us that, yes, she is still single before joking that any eligible bachelors can “call me.” The Bravo star also shared what she was looking for in a significant other.
“You got to be intelligent, and you have to be able to have a conversation,” Erika shared. “I need a good conversation.”
The Pretty Mess author noted that she “cannot” only communicate with someone via text.
“I need to know that you are an intelligent human being that can have a back-and-forth conversation. Please,” Erika added. (The RHOBH star filed for divorce from disgraced attorney Tom Girardi in 2020. Their divorce is still pending.)
When talking about dating with her RHOBH castmates, Erika referred to Sutton Stracke as “the matchmaker” of the group.
“Garcelle [Beauvais] knows everybody, by the way … she’s not helping us out. Sutton is on the apps,” she said. “I mean, I’m just now feeling like I’m healthy enough to go out and be myself and not crumble. No, we’re single. We’re out here.”
Overall, Erika teased that shooting RHOBH season 14 was a great experience.
“We [had a] good time shooting it. I mean, not everybody,” she explained. “I did, which is fine by me. Because, for once, I had a good time.”
Her strategy for dealing with the women was to “stay neutral” — especially when it came to the feud between Dorit Kemsley and Kyle Richards. (The season 14 trailer teased that their brewing tensions come to an explosive head.)
“I did not have a hard time,” Erika said. “It starts with both of them. Until they had to finally talk to each other, what can I say? Other than these things happen. I was not aware at how much had been bubbling under the surface for both of them on both sides. So that was interesting to find out.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills kicks off with a supersized premiere on Bravo Tuesday, November 19, at 8 p.m. ET and streams the next day on Peacock.
