Pole Vaulter Anthony Ammirati Looks Jacked in Shirtless Training Pics
Anthony Ammirati, the French pole vaulter who went viral for his bulge at the 2024 Paris Olympics, is back on the track and looking jacked.
Ammirati, 21, posted a duo of shirtless pictures via Instagram last week, with the Olympian looking totally shredded and sun-kissed.
In one image, Ammirati can be seen carrying what appears to be a vaulting pole with his phone tucked into his gray athletic shorts.
In a separate selfie, Ammirati wistfully gazes off into the distance as the setting sun hits his face.
“On the agenda for me to run fast and strengthen the beast as much as possible before I can jump back with a brand new back at the end of December 🙏🏼,” Ammirati captioned the images, hinting that he was in the process of rehabbing an injury.
Ammirati has also been sharing highlights of his workouts — often shirtless — for his nearly 60k followers on TikTok.
“A quick look at my session this morning:),” he captioned a Friday, December 6 video, which showed Ammirati performing a variety of exercises at an outdoor gym.
Ammirati captured the attention of the world at the Olympics in Paris this August when his bulge knocked over the crossbar during his semifinal heat. The mishap led to Ammirati falling to 15th place, out of the range to qualify for the final and compete for a medal.
“It’s a big disappointment,” Ammirati said in a statement via the French Athletics Federation after the event. “The conditions were good. It’s the first time I’ve started a competition without any stress. As I was a total outsider, I only had one goal: to play with the audience. I was almost there.”
Ammirati eventually managed to have a good sense of humor about the entire thing, which saw his following on social media skyrocket.
“POV: You create more buzz for your package than your performances,” Ammirati captioned a TikTok video days after the event which showed him eating inside the Olympic Village.
The video was set to a track called “Sad Spongebob Music.”
After returning home from Paris, Ammirati was able to regroup and find some success on the track.
Without his bulge impeding him, Ammirati’s ENVOL team took home a French national championship.
“Congratulations to our 4 athletes who won the club’s first national team team title today 🥇,” read a October 20 post via Instagram by ENVOL.
In a picture accompanying the post, Ammirati can be seen smiling alongside his teammates as they show off their freshly-earned gold medals.
