Pedro Pascal’s The Mandalorian and Grogu Movie: Everything to Know
Pedro Pascal is bringing his Star Wars character to the big screen.
The Mandalorian star is set to reprise his role as Din Djarin (a.k.a. “Mando”) in the brand new movie The Mandalorian & Grogu. The film, which will also see the return of the adorable Jedi Grogu (a.k.a. “Baby Yoda”), will pick up with the duo after the events of The Mandalorian season 3.
Have become fan favorite Star Wars characters since the premiere of The Mandalorian on Disney+ in 2019. The series followed the titular Mandalorian warrior as he protected Grogu from evil Imperial forces looking to use his power for nefarious purposes.
The series, which wrapped its third season in 2023, also starred Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Gina Carano as Cara Dune, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, Timothy Olyphant as Cobb Vanth and Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano. Mark Hamill even made a brief season 2 cameo as his iconic Star Wars character Luke Skywalker.
It was announced in January 2024 that the series would be getting a movie spinoff, the plot details of which have been kept under wraps.

What Will ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Be About?
As of now there’s no set plot for the film, but season three of The Mandalorian ended with Pascal’s character officially adopting Grogu so the cute little green guy could become his apprentice.
Who Will Direct ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’?
The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau will helm the big screen tale of the Mandalorian and he’s rightfully psyched to do so. ”I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created,” Favreau said in a January 2024 statement. “The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.”
Who Will Star in ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’?
Pascal will reprise his role as Mando in the film, and it’s likely voice actor David Acord will return to voice Grogu. Sigourney Weaver will also star in an undisclosed role, while Jeremy Allen White will voice Rotta the Hutt, the son of the infamous Star Wars villain Jabba the Hutt.
When Does Filming Begin?
The Mandalorian and Grogu began filming in 2024. That December, writer Dave Filoni teased he was “very excited” about the project while confirming that production had wrapped. “Jon and I had a great time working on that as we always do,” he told Extra. “It was great seeing Grogu. He’s become such a star and it’s amazing how it’s evolved, what we can do now with the puppetry compared to season 1 and where we are today on a film.”
When Will ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Be Released?
The movie is expected to hit theaters on May 22, 2026.
