NYE Terrorist Speeds Past Law Enforcement & Into Crowd, New Video Shows
CNN
UPDATE
4:06 PM PT — UPDATE — 405 PM PT … President Biden confirmed, just hours before the attack, Jabbar made a series of recordings in which he pledged his allegiance to ISIS and expressed his desire to kill.
Authorities now say the terrorist who killed at least 15 people and injured dozens more by plowing his truck through a huge crowd of New Orleans revelers had help … and the accomplices are still on the loose.
42-year-old Shamsud-Din Jabbar was killed in a shootout during the attack on the famed Bourbon Street. CNN obtained surveillance video of his pickup truck as Jabbar maneuvered it around a police car and then sped up into the crowd. A large poll is attached to the back of the truck.
The FBI is reportedly on the hunt for 3 men and 1 woman who were caught on surveillance video apparently planting explosives. They have not been apprehended.
Jabbar had an ISIS flag in his truck, which obviously adds to the evidence this was a terrorist attack.
Authorities say Jabbar was traveling at a high rate of speed and went around barricades before slamming his vehicle into the crowd, as he was firing shots from an assault rifle. Two police officers were hit.
Witnesses say he was wearing full body armor. When Jabbar got out of his truck with his weapon … police shot him dead.
Mayor LaToya Cantrell says the driver clearly had an intent to kill as many people as possible.
FBI Special Agent Alethea Duncan, who heads up the agency’s New Orleans field office, says they found at least one improvised explosive device on scene.
The injured were taken to 5 hospitals in the New Orleans area.
The Sugar Bowl, which was supposed to take place Wednesday at the City’s Super Dome, has been delayed 24 hours, but there’s debate over whether it’s safe, given there are other suspects on the loose.
