Nikki Glaser Reacts to Kylie Jenner Laughing at Her Globes Monologue
Nikki Glaser admits she cared deeply about Kylie Jenner’s reaction to her 2025 Golden Globes monologue.
The 40-year-old comedian recapped her experience as this year’s Golden Globes host during “The Nikki Glaser Podcast” episode released on Tuesday, January 7. Glaser sat down with boyfriend Chris Convy and two members of her writing team — Brian Frange and Sean O’Connor — who detailed her performance from their point of view.
“I haven’t watched it yet,” Glaser said about her monologue on Sunday, January 5. “When I was up there, I wasn’t really absorbing.”
Glaser explained that she “couldn’t really see what everyone was doing” in terms of reacting to her jokes. The comedian’s cohosts were quick to reveal all the stars’ reactions to her roasts, calling Jenner, 27, one of the MVPs of the night.
“I was scared to even ask,” Glaser added. “It matters to me too much.”
In reference to Jenner’s award show date Timothée Chalamat’s facial hair, Glaser joked about the “eyelashes” on the actor’s upper lip , which “f—ing killed” Jenner.
“What? Stop,” Glaser said in response to Jenner’s reaction to the joke, which also received a roar of laughs from the award show crowd. She further explained why it was hard for her to see the audience’s reaction.
“It’s so hard to have a camera in your face cause all the cameras are in people’s faces,” she said. “They don’t know when the joke is coming about them. They know it’s coming because there’s a camera in their face and they’re a big star.”
Glaser added, “From doing [Comedy Central] Roasts, when I would even see my name up in the prompter … I know a joke’s coming about me, you blackout. You don’t even listen to it. You can’t, like, process information when you’re so nervous.”
The comedian explained that she was trying to remember that the stars were probably “terrified” of her jokes, in part because of her success on multiple celebrity roasts.
“I really was like, ‘They have nothing to worry [about], they should trust me.’ I just know that I am trustworthy,” she said, assuming the stars were “so scared” of her jokes.
Glaser also recalled Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson making a point to stop by her dressing room after the awards show to congratulate her on a job well done.
“I hugged him before [my monologue] and then after [the show] — which he did not need to do, “Glaser recalled. “[He] came by after everyone was in the room. We were all kind of celebrating. It was probably like 10 minutes after the end of the show, and he came back.”
