NBA’s Isaiah Thomas Grieves Sister’s Death: ‘How You Leave Me Too?’
NBA star Isaiah Thomas is mourning the loss of his older sister, Quisha, after previously losing his sister Chyna in a car accident.
“Ima miss you big sis!!!!” Isaiah, 35, wrote via his Instagram Story on Wednesday, November 20. “Damn how you leave me too? 2 sisters gone!!! This can’t be real. I love and miss you Queen. 💙🙏🏾💔.”
Quisha’s cause of death is unknown, but Isaiah indicated something tragic had happened when he posted a string of 21 broken heart emojis and wrote “F—!!!!!!!!!!!” via X on Wednesday morning.
The basketball star — who last played in an NBA game for the Phoenix Suns last season — has reposted multiple tributes to his sister via his Instagram Story.
One read, “Rest peacefully Queen. We love and miss you so damn much.” Another said, “Rest well Queen…my deepest condolences and prayers are with the family! The town [lost] a real one 💔.”
Tyler Regan, a filmmaker for Isaiah’s company Slow Grind, mentioned the basketball star in his post.
“We will love you and miss you forever Quisha!!” Regan wrote in a message that was shared by Thomas. “Please watch over your brother and your mama, they need you!!”
Isaiah also lost his sister Chyna in 2017 when she was killed in a one-car accident in Federal Way, Washington. According to ESPN, she died at the scene when her car drifted onto the left shoulder of the highway and hit a large metal pole. Chyna was not wearing her seat belt at the time.
The crash occurred when Isaiah was playing for the Boston Celtics, just one day before the team was to begin their first-round series against the Chicago Bulls.
A visibly emotional Isaiah played in Game 1 against the Bulls, which he dedicated to his late sister. On his sneakers, Thomas wrote, “R.I.P. Lil Sis” and “I Love You Chyna.”
“He’s a true competitor,” former Celtics teammate Avery Bradley told reporters after the game. “Tonight he was playing for his sister, and he was playing for his family.”
Isaiah spent a total of 12 seasons in the NBA, also playing for the Sacramento Kings, Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, New Orleans Pelicans, Dallas Mavericks and Charlotte Hornets.
The point guard had his best season in 2016-2017, when he appeared in 76 games for the Celtics and averaged 28.9 points per game.
Isaiah has been married to wife Kayla Wallace since 2016 and the couple share three children together: sons James, 14, and Jaiden, 12, and daughter Journey, 6.
