Mod Sun Confirms Romance With Love Is Blind’s Brittany Wisniewski

Mod Sun broke his silence on his relationship with Love Is Blind’s Brittany Wisniewski.

“Things are great,” Mod Sun, 37, told TMZ on Wednesday, December 18, while spotted with Wisniewski, 33, before getting dinner at Craig’s in Los Angeles.

When asked whether they were official, Mod Sun (real name Derek Ryan Smith) replied, “Life is better when we’re together.” As he walked hand in hand with Wisniewski, Mod Sun revealed that the pair met in Washington, D.C.

Mod Sun also shared that he “didn’t” know who Wisniewski was despite her appearing on the reality dating show. “It just happened,” he said.

Mod Sun and Wisniewski were first linked in November then she was spotted at his concert and seen cozying up together at a Los Angeles bar, TMZ reported. The following night, the pair grabbed dinner at Catch Steak in Los Angeles.

Before pursuing a relationship with Wisniewski, Mod Sun was previously engaged to Avril Lavigne. Us Weekly confirmed in February 2023 that the twosome went their separate ways after more than two years together.

“Avril and Mod Sun have been on and off for the past two months, but are no longer together as a couple,” a source exclusively told Us at the time, while Mod Sun’s rep claimed that they were still together days ago. “They were together and engaged as of 3 days ago when Mod left for tour so if anything has changed that’s news to him,” his rep said in a statement.

The following month, an insider told Us that Mod Sun and Lavigne had called it quits before their split made headlines. “They got to know each other on a deeper level and found out it didn’t work out, and they quietly ended things,” the source said, adding that the duo were “estranged for months” before Us confirmed the separation.

Wisniewski, for her part, accepted a proposal from Leo Braudy on Love Is Blind season 7. They ended their engagement shortly after.

“There wasn’t anything major that happened,” Wisniewski told Entertainment Weekly in October of her relationship with Braudy. “Honestly, I sometimes wish there was, because maybe it would give a better explanation to why things didn’t work out. It’s really just, you know when it’s right and you just know when it’s not, and we’re better off as friends.”

Wisniewski called the split “super mutual.” She added, “We had this conversation of how things could work out, and we went over our daily schedules and how we would fit into each other’s lives, and then once we got to Miami, we just felt the disconnect. One night we had a very mutual conversation of like, OK, clearly some shift is happening here, and maybe we are just good friends.’ There is no bad blood or anything, so nothing crazy happened. I’m very lucky of how that turned out.”
