Miley Cyrus Jokes About Engagement on Jimmy Kimmel

Miley Cyrus joked that her engagement ring from fiancé Maxx Morando was a bargain buy while appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

During the Thursday, December 4 episode of the talk show, Kimmel, 58, congratulated the “Flowers” singer, 33, on her recent engagement.

Referencing how close it is to Christmas, Kimmel joked, “Your fiancé, I wonder if he realizes  — Maxx is your fiancé — if he waited like, three weeks he wouldn’t have to come up with a Christmas gift.”

In response, Cyrus flashed the impressive sparkler and joked, “This was [a] Black Friday deal, baby.”

The singer quickly clarified,“It wasn’t but he was smart that way. It might have been. I’m not sure.”

Miley Cyrus’ love story with Maxx Morando has surprised her in more ways than one. “Miley never thought she would get married again, and Maxx changed everything for her,” a source exclusively shares with Us Weekly. “They have a really healthy and private relationship.” Us confirmed on Tuesday, December 2, that the couple are engaged […]

While Cyrus didn’t share what she and Morando were planning to gift each other for Christmas, she admitted she had a bizarre beef with the festive season.

“Well, Christmas, I’m known as a little bit of a grinch because I have a qualm with Christmas,” she explained. “I hate paper.”

Pointing at paper on Kimmel’s desk, Cyrus added, “Like, looking at that makes me want to vomit.”

Cyrus attempted to explain where her aversion to paper stemmed from.

“The real problem is people have dry hands and they touch paper and then it’s Christmas and it’s cold and everyone’s hands are dry and they’re all touching paper,” she went on. “When someone sends me a lovely letter, I don’t even open it.”

She joked that’s why she and Morando were tying the knot, adding, “That’s why I got engaged. I make my fiancé open all the packages outside.”

When Kimmel asked if she planned to sign their wedding certificate, Cyrus said she’d be OK with it depending on what type of paper it is.

“This is the thing is waxed paper, like anything that’s got like a smooth surface, that’s better and from the last marriage, I think I remember that the paper is waxed,” she noted.

However, Cyrus said she wasn’t against all forms of communication and described the paper issue as a “phobia.”

“I love text message. No paper. Email, no paper. Phone call, no paper. It’s the — eh, I can’t even talk about it,” she continued.

The “Wrecking Ball” singer added that she also refuses to read newspapers due to her issue with paper, and she’s aware it’s becoming a big problem in her life.

“It’s getting worse so there does need to be some sort of intervention and I am going to look into some sort of EMDR, being hypnotized about it because it’s affecting my everyday life.”

It’s been a big week for Cyrus, who sparked engagement rumors when the singer showed off her ring alongside her fiancé Morando at the Avatar: Fire and Ash premiere in Los Angeles on Monday, December 1.

Us Weekly confirmed Cyrus and Morando’s engagement on Tuesday, December 2, with an insider telling Us that the engagement happened in early November.

Appearing on Good Morning America on Wednesday, December 3, Cyrus shared details of how Morando popped the question. The Hannah Montana alum revealed Morando proposed during a recent trip to Asia and “did good” with the ring choice.

“I actually had never gone to Japan, which, I did that purposefully. I wanted one place in the world that could be my special place that I saved for me,” she said.

Cyrus continued, “I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation, and I had completely surrendered. And I’m telling you, I was so, so surprised.”

During the interview, Cyrus praised Morando as a “great partner” as she reflected on their relationship

“Me and Maxx have been together for four years, and it’s very obvious the drastic amount of growth that I’ve had in those four years … and that really, a lot of that is because I have a great partner,” she said. “You just want to dream the biggest you can, and you want to have someone by your side that always tells you you can do it.”

Cyrus was previously married to Australian actor Liam Hemsworth from 2018 to 2020 after a decade of dating on and off.
