Lady A’s Hillary Scott Shares Secret to Nearly 13-Year Marriage With Chris Tyrrell
Lady A’s Hillary Scott continues to feel nothing but gratitude for her husband Chris Tyrrell.
“We will have been married 13 years in January, and I feel like it’s so interesting how we really do balance each other out so well,” Scott, 38, exclusively told Us Weekly when celebrating her new holiday song “Hard to Wait for Christmas” featuring her 11-year-old daughter, Eisele Kaye. “The gratitude I feel in my heart for him and our marriage and where we are now, but even for what’s to come? I feel so lucky that he chose me.”
While the couple has their hands full parenting three daughters, including 6-year-old twins Betsy and Emory, both Scott and Tyrrell continue to prioritize their quality time together.
“We try to have a date night at least once a month,” Scott shared before taking the stage at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry for an Opry Country Christmas on December 5. “Two times a month, we go out and we have a small group with a group of couples and it’s a 40-minute drive there and home. Sometimes it’s the 40-minute drive, dinner and home that we get to just talk and share and be with each other.”
When their anniversary arrives in January 2025, the couple will head to Colorado where they plan to “clear our head and brainstorm and dream for the future.”
“We’re hitting a season in our life where it’s like, OK, what do we what to do? What do we want to do for the next 10 to 20 years?” she said. “We’re excited to think about the future and plan for it.”
While romance is a priority, creating magical memories with their daughters is also high on Scott and Tyrrell’s to-do list.
This holiday season, the entire family came together to participate in the music video for Scott and Eisele’s holiday song, “Hard to Wait for Christmas.”
“It feels like the most representative of our house every day, just the dance party,” Scott joked to Us about the video. “One of the girls is roller skating through the house and the other one is on a scooter, and it’s very us. If anyone is wondering what it’s like to be in our house, it was on set because that’s basically our house every day.”
When mom or dad are in need of a short break to rest and recharge, there’s no judgment. Scott quickly gave credit to Tyrrell for stepping up when she needs to refuel. She’s also happy to do the same in return when necessary.
“There have been seasons of our life, especially since the twins came along, where it has felt very overwhelming and [we ask], ‘How can we we do this?’” Scott said. “But I will say this season that we’re in right now is just precious.”
While things can still get complicated as their kids explore different extracurricular activities, both Scott and Tyrell are trying to build their girls up, “encourage who they’re becoming” and “explore what they love.”
“They’re so much fun right now,” she said. “I’m very, very grateful that I have a partner where there’s just mutual respect and open communication and getting to walk this parenting journey with him because it’s a journey.”
