Kylie Kelce Says Kids Were ‘Excited’ for Donna Kelce’s Hallmark Debut
The whole Kelce crew was elated to catch Donna Kelce’s Hallmark debut in the Philly-centric holiday rom-com Christmas on Call.
“The girls were so excited to see their DeeDee in Christmas on Call, the @hallmarkchannel movie,” Kylie Kelce wrote via her Instagram Stories on Saturday, November 23, sharing a still of her mother-in-law’s role. “We are streaming it on @peacock.”
Donna reposted the tribute onto her page, as well. (Donna is “DeeDee” to Kylie and husband Jason Kelce’s three daughters: Wyatt, 4, Ellie, 3, and Bennett, 20 months. Kylie is currently pregnant with baby No. 4.)
The beloved NFL mama plays a character named Donna, who works at a cheesesteak restaurant in Christmas on Call, one of Hallmark’s original “Countdown to Christmas” films. In the production, a local emergency room doctor and an EMT fall in love amidst the backdrop of the holidays in Philadelphia.
Donna’s brief cameo marks her official acting debut. She will also play a character with her name in the network’s Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, premiering on November 30.
“It’s nothing major,” Donna told Vulture in September of her “little teeny cameos” in the holiday flicks. “It just was something that they thought they’d throw in the movie. So, it’s kind of fun. One of them’s about Philly and the other one’s about the Chiefs. So it kinda made sense.”
In addition to branching out in the acting world, Donna’s greatest role is as a mom and grandma. She and ex-husband Ed Kelce share sons Jason and Travis Kelce, both of whom are household names in the NFL. (Travis, 35, is a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, while Jason, 37, retired from the Philadelphia Eagles in March after 13 seasons as a center.)
Kylie, 32, joined the family in 2018 when she married Jason and formed her own bond with Donna.
“She is just one of those individuals that takes everything onto herself. She doesn’t need any help,” Donna exclusively told Us Weekly in January, teasing how they get along. “I think women’s sports, we both love that. A lot of just really fun things.”
She added, “We’re just very similar in our likes and dislikes and how we feel about the world and everything that goes on in the United States. We pretty much have the same temperature when it comes to what’s going on.”
Kylie is equally proud to have such a “strong, independent woman” as a mother-in-law.
“It is those traits that I think helped [Jason] understand that women can be a strong force,” Kylie told Us in June. “Although they’re no longer together, his parents were very much a partnership in how they function, and it was a team effort.”
