Kike Hernandez and Mariana Vicente’s Relationship Timeline

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Enrique “Kiké” Hernandez knows a thing or two about teamwork in baseball.

Since being drafted in 2009 by the Houston Astros, the current Dodger now has two World Series under his belt – including a win in 2020.

But Hernandez also knows about teamwork off the field: the professional athlete has also been married to actress, model and beauty pageant winner Mariana Vicente since 2018.

Vicente, 35, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1989. In 2010, she won Miss Universe Puerto Rico. She also came in 10th worldwide in the Miss Universe Competition. Her acting career has included credits such as Scream Queens, Ozark, and American Horror Story.

Hannah Jeter and JoAnna Garcia Swisher are just a few A-listers who’ve been wooed by Major League Baseball athletes over the years. Garcia Swisher was acting for more than a decade before her now-husband, Nick Swisher, was drafted in 2002 by the Oakland Athletics. Two years later, Swisher made his MLB debut with the Oakland […]

The couple has supported each other in their respective careers over the course of their nearly decade long relationship. Us Weekly takes a look at the star couple’s biggest moments.

2015

In a profile from Inside Weddings, the couple explained that their relationship started the same way that many modern ones do: online. After watching the movie Hot Tub Time Machine 2, which Mariana has a role in, Hernandez found her and reached out.

“He found me on social media and sent a message congratulating me on my performance,” she recalled.

She responded, and they ended up meeting two months later. The MLB star said that he knew that they would get married one day. “She was as beautiful in person as she was in her modeling pictures.”

Six months after that, they began a romantic relationship.

2017

In July 2017, Hernandez proposed to Vicente during a vacation in Big Sur, California. She said that while filming their hotel room on Snapchat, she turned around and saw him proposing.  “I turned around and he was on one knee,” Vicente told Inside Weddings. “Also, I got it all on that Snapchat video… which, I deleted by mistake.”

2018

In December of the next year, the couple got married in a ceremony in Puerto Rico. “It would’ve been nice for this rehearsal thing to tell me how much crying there was gonna be!!” captioned Hernandez on Instagram next to an assortment of wedding photos.

2020

Hernandez and Vicente were soon to be a family of three! In June 2020, the couple announced that they were expecting their first child. “IT WORKS!!!!!!!!! Bebé Hernández Vicente coming soon!! #GirlDad,” Hernandez posted on X, formerly Twitter.

2021

Their daughter, Penelope Isabel, was born on January 15, 2021. Hernandez celebrated the occasion with an emotional Instagram post.

“The day I got drafted I thought I was on top of the world, the day I made my Big League debut I thought nothing would compare, the day I got married I felt like the world stopped, the day we won the World Series I thought I had it all;” wrote Hernandez on Instagram, in a caption alongside photos of the newborn. “NOTHING compares to the moment when I met my little girl!! @marianavicente you are my hero!!! Las amo y las amare siempre!!!!

2021 also saw big changes for the couple, as Hernandez was drafted to the Boston Red Sox, where they stayed through the 2022 season.

2023

It was back to Los Angeles —where Hernandez played from 2015-2020 — for the star couple in 2023, when Hernandez moved back to the Dodgers. That December, the couple celebrated five years of marriage. “5 years married to my bestie,” wrote Vicente on an Instagram post. “And that’s how long it took him to grow out that facial hair,” she joked.

2024

In January 2024, the couple officially had a 3-year-old, celebrating Penelope’s birthday on the 15th. As Hernandez worked his way towards the World Series, Vicente also continued her work in the fashion industry. In October, she launched a brand-new fashion collaboration line with the brand Ecliptica. In an Instagram post, Vicente wrote that they were among the first designers that she worked with in her career.

“They have consistently shown up in all of my life’s biggest moments. Throughout my modeling career, Miss Universe Puerto Rico pageant days, movie premiere red carpets and wedding day,” she wrote. “Their designs, thoughtfulness, work ethic and quality is TOP and I hope that you are all able to enjoy these pieces that were created with so much love.”
