Kaia Gerber Admits She Doesn’t Think Mom Cindy Crawford Is ‘Cool’

Cindy Crawford may be a supermodel and a ‘90s icon, but to daughter Kaia Gerber, she’s just mom.

“When you were younger, did you think, ‘Oh my mom is so cool,’” host Kyle MacLachlan asked Gerber, 24, in Us Weekly’s exclusive teaser clip of the Thursday, September 18, debut episode of the “What Are We Even Doing?” podcast.

“No. I still don’t think she’s cool,” Gerber responded, garnering a laugh from the actor, 66.

“They did this supermodels documentary on Apple. And I watched it and I was like, sobbing, in tears. And I called her and I was like, I think, you know, and she’s my mom. I’m not asking her like, ‘So, why did you decide to do Playboy?’ or, ‘How did you do the Pepsi commercial?’ Like, I wasn’t thinking about that stuff,” Gerber continued while reflecting on her mom’s rise to fame. “And so, to actually hear her story, that was like a huge moment for me where I realized …,” Kaia went on, leading MacLachlan to ask if they often spoke about her illustrious career.

“No, I mean … I guess how much do you talk to your … are your kids really curious about your career?” she inquired, to which the Blink Twice star admitted, “No, not really.”

Kaia noted that trusts her mother’s advice and does appreciate everything she accomplished, adding, “I’m at that point now where I’m like, I’ll take all the advice I can get.”

“I’m so curious about, like, what led her, especially because she didn’t come from a family in the industry at all,” Kaia continued, going on to praise her mom for navigating it like a pro. “I don’t know what I would do without her.”

During the episode, MacLachlan even created a special game for Kaia, a Shakespeare aficionado. The two also chatted about core memories that led her to acting, modeling, growing up with her famous mom and more.

Kaia, meanwhile, has been making her mark in the modeling world, successfully launching her own career at age 10 for Versace’s junior line before making her Fashion Week debut in 2017.

Since then, Kaia has led campaigns for Marc Jacobs Fragrances and YSL Beauty. Plus, she won Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards in 2018.

More recently, she was named the star of Sarah Burton‘s Givenchy Fall 2025 campaign and she also secured a role on FX’s The Shards.
