Joe Rogan Praises Sleeping With Mouth Tape: ‘Game Changer’

Joe Rogan is a (really) big advocate of mouth tape.
Rogan, 57, praised sleeping with tape over his mouth while chatting with comedian Bert Kreischer during a Tuesday, March 18, episode of his “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “I know people say this and I know it’s one of those f—ing fitness influencer things where people are selling something [but] I got no skin in the game,” Rogan said.
“I’m not selling nothing. I use a company called Hostage Tape. I’m sure there’s other ones that are great, but [the name] ‘Hostage Tape’ makes me laugh,” he noted.
He added that the lifestyle change, which keeps your mouth shut as you rest, is a “game changer” to his quality of sleep.
“Now I have sleep apnea, so I wear a mouthpiece,” he explained. “And my mouthpiece has a tough depressor, so the piece is fitted to my lower jaw and the tongue depressor keeps my tongue from falling back on my throat so I don’t block my airway. I have a big tongue.” He continued: “Then, I put the tape over my mouth so I’m not using my mouth at all [when I sleep].”
For the uninitiated, the benefits of mouth taping include improved sleep quality by reducing snoring and sleep apnea symptoms, dry mouth, bad breath, dental problems and gum disease.
Rogan isn’t the only celebrity who has been open about using mouth tape. Gwyneth Paltrow, Emma Roberts, Jimmy Fallon, and Ashley Graham are just a few in a long list of bold-faced names who have sworn by the practice.
In November 2022, Paltrow, 52, told her followers that mouth taping is “probably the single best wellness tool I have found recently.” She also shared that “breathing through your nose at night apparently creates alkalinity in the body and promotes best quality sleep.”
Anything for a good night’s beauty sleep!
