Jessica Simpson Posts Rare Photo of All 3 Kids After Thanksgiving
Jessica Simpson is getting into the Christmas spirit with her kids.
Simpson, 45, took to Instagram on Thursday, December 4, to share a photo of her and estranged husband Eric Johnson’s three kids standing in front of a Christmas tree. The pair’s eldest daughter, Maxwell, 13, and son Ace, 12, posed on either side of their youngest daughter, Birdie, 6, each putting one arm on their little sister’s head.
Ace sported a pair of festive red flannel pajama pants and a gray T-shirt for the silly shot, while Maxwell wore jeans and a brown sweater as she stuck her tongue out at the camera. Birdie donned a denim skirt, white tank top and a sweater wrapped around her waist.
“Christmas time is here!” Simpson captioned the post. “What the month of December brings to my kiddos has always been about the genuine feelings of love, excitement, hope, happiness, grace and pure JOY! Wishin’ you and yours all the many blessings this month has to offer y’all’s hearts ❤️🎄💚🎄.”
The sibling snap came weeks after Simpson and Johnson, 46, reunited for Thanksgiving. The “Irresistible” singer confirmed to TMZ on November 28 that her ex had been present at her family’s holiday gathering.
“We were all together yesterday over at my mom’s,” Simpson told the publication.
When asked if that included Johnson, Simpson replied, “Of course. That’s my kids’ father.”
The Dukes of Hazzard alum also shared that “all” of their kids’ grandparents were in attendance at the gathering.
“Family first,” she added before sharing her advice on coparenting.
“No matter what, your kid is half the other person, and [you should] always have respect in what you say around them so they can always have a good perspective on it,” Simpson explained. “Unconditional love’s important.”
Simpson and Johnson announced their split after 10 years of marriage in January.
“Eric and I have been living separately, navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” Simpson told Us Weekly in a statement at the time. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”
Simpson and Johnson, who met in 2010 and tied the knot four years later, have seemingly remained on good terms throughout their split. In August, the two were spotted boarding a Southwest Airlines flight from Burbank to Las Vegas and sitting in the same row with an empty seat between them. They attended Jessica’s sister Ashlee’s concert in Las Vegas that weekend.
“I don’t know why my heart gets tossed around, but I’m one of the lucky ones,” Jessica told People of her amicable split from Johnson in February. “At least I have my children and I still have Eric. He’s still very much a part of my life and will always be.”
Simpson has celebrated some major milestones amid her separation from Johnson. In September, she released new music for the first time in 15 years. Later, on November 1, she celebrated eight years of sobriety.
“8 years ago today I made the choice to confront, to confess and to let go of the self sabotaging parts of my life that I was choosing,” Simpson wrote via Instagram at the time. “Making that decision allowed me to fully live in the pursuit of Gods[sic] purpose for my life. Alcohol silenced my intuition, blocked my dreams and chased my circulating fears of complacency.”
Simpson continued, “Today I am clear. Today I am driven by faith. Both fear and faith are something that we feel and may not see, I’m so happy I chose faith over fear. It was not in the fight that I found my strength, it was in the surrender.”
