Jesse Metcalfe Wants to Be on ‘Industry’
Jesse Metcalfe is pitching himself to HBO.
“I want to be on Industry. If they make another season of Industry,” Metcalfe, 45, exclusively told Us Weekly during a recent Double Serum Generation 9 launch event.
Why does Metcalfe believe he’d be the perfect fit for the series? “I think in a former life, I was a stockbroker. I’d like to be in finance, 6-foot-4 in finance,” he playfully replied. The actor added to his pitch by stating that although he hasn’t worked in a newsroom, he has experience with mailrooms.
The drama series added Games of Thrones star Kit Harington to its third season, which earned 1.6 million viewers per episode across all platforms. And, lucky for Metcalfe, HBO renewed Industry for a season 4 less than two weeks before the season 3 finale aired on September 29. So, there’s a possibility his wish could come true.
Metcalfe is no stranger to TV. For five years in the mid-2000s, he played John Rowland, a hunky teenage gardener, on the hit ABC show Desperate Housewives, which ran for eight seasons before wrapping in May 2012. Metcalfe’s John engaged in an adulterous affair with Eva Longoria’s character, Gabrielle Solis, who was one of the lead housewives.
When asked if he missed the daily routine of working on Desperate Housewives, Metcalfe jokingly responded, “Do I miss being on a TV show? Yeah. I’d like to be on a TV show. Yeah, sure. Anyone got a job for me?”
In August, Metcalfe gushed to Us about working on the series: “I had an incredible experience on that show. Not only did that make my career, not only was that really my big break, but I had an absolute blast working with Eva Longoria. All we did was laugh our way through all those awkward sex scenes.”
The John Tucker Must Die star also opened up about the pair’s age difference and having to hide the relationship from their on-screen neighbors. Metcalfe even compared the show to Euphoria, saying Desperate Housewives was “pretty tame by today’s standards.”
“I’m super proud to have been a part of that show. It will definitely go down in television history as an iconic show,” he said.
Metcalfe most recently starred alongside Alec Baldwin, Stephen Dorff and Tom Welling in the thriller Clear Cut, which was released in July and directed by Brian Skiba. His next gig will be playing Chris Black in the upcoming horror film The Possession at Gladstone Manor. Caylee Cowan, Charlotte Kirk, Darren Weiss, Barbara Crampton, William Mapother and Lin Shaye round out the cast.
