Jason Kelce Reacts to Look-Alike Contest, Picks His Winner
Jason Kelce is poking fun at himself after a look-alike contest was held in his honor.
Dozens of doppelgangers congregated on Rittenhouse Square Park in Philadelphia on Saturday, December 14, to be crowned the former Philadelphia Eagles center’s top look-alike. Still, according to Kelce, 37, the bar is low.
On the Monday, December 16, episode of ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown, Kelce expected to talk football, but his cohosts, led by Scott Van Pelt, surprised him with social-media footage from the competition. “What are we doing right now? Why is this—” a bewildered Kelce asked.
As his cohosts made quips about his look-alikes — “There’s five dudes! The guy in the sweater, I thought was you!” — Kelce poured cold water on the notion that he has a unique look.
“Newsflash: Any overweight white guy with a beard looks just like me!” he said. “It’s an easy competition. There’s nothing unique about any of these gentlemen other than they are large people with beards, and of Caucasian complexion.”
Kelce also gave his opinion on who should have won — and it wasn’t the eventual victor.
“That guy was spot on,” he said of one of the top three contestants who wore a cardigan similar to Kelce’s own Big Lebowski-inspired sweater. In fact, on Monday, Kelce changed his X profile picture to the individual.
Reacting to footage of eventual winner Paul Crossley, who wore a maroon sweater, he said, “It’s good. I think the sweater guy was more accurate.”
“I got to confess. That is actually me, guys,” he quipped about his preferred winner. “I came up to my own lookalike [contest] and I lost. Came in second.”
Flattering as it may be to have one’s own look-alike contest — Timothee Chalamet crashed his — for Kelce, it was a bit of a wake-up call.
“Do you know how disheartening it is to know that there’s nothing unique about you at all?” he joked. “Thousands of people look like you.”
Kelce went on to reveal that he also has a celebrity doppelganger.
“You know how often I was compared to Zach Galifianakis?” he told his cohosts. “I love Zach. He’s, like, under 6-foot. There’s nothing about us remotely the same. Our hair isn’t even the same kind of hair.”
We’d watch Kelce in The Hangover 4!
