Inside Tracker-Inspired Getaway Based on Justin Hartley’s Colter Shaw
For those who wondered how it feels to live like Justin Hartley‘s Tracker character Colter Shaw — Us tried it for you!
Us Weekly had the opportunity to go on an exclusive overnight experience in the Catskills mountains inspired by Hartley’s hit CBS show. The event, which was a partnership with AutoCamp, featured a unique stay at a luxury campground with activities based on Tracker.
Based on Jeffery Deaver’s novel The Never Game, the procedural premiered in February after Super Bowl LVIII and immediately found an audience as people tuned in weekly to watch their favorite fictional survivalist a.k.a Colter travel the country to help solve missing person cases, track down information on criminal cases and so much more.
After the show’s first season finale, viewership numbers confirmed that Tracker was the most watched scripted series from the 2023-24 TV season. The drama was quickly renewed for a second season, which introduces new cases for Colter to solve. Season 2, which debuted earlier this month, scored the title of this fall’s most-watched TV premiere after returning nearly 10 percent up in viewership from the season 1 finale with 8.3 million total viewers.
The draw has been watching which missing cases Colter takes on, in addition to star-studded cameos from Hartley’s wife, Sofia Pernas, Jensen Ackles, Melissa Roxburgh, Jennifer Morrison and more familiar faces.
CBS’ excursion gave Us a glimpse at what living out Tracker is really like, and we captured the highlights for fellow fans of the show:
Spending Time in the Woods
Colter is always up for the challenge whether it is rescuing a hiker in Nevada or diving deep into the Idaho wilderness in search of a missing plane. Us got a taste of that adventure in the heart of upstate New York at AutoCamp Catskills.
Roughing It
We saw Colter living out of an airstream, so Us enjoyed being closer to nature.
Sneak Peek
Fans — and Us — got to watch the newest episode of Tracker, which marked Ackles’ return as Russell. During the episode, which aired on October 20, Hartley’s character, Colter, went missing while looking for a professor who got caught up in UFO research. Colter was subsequently rescued by his older brother, Russell, as they tried to solve the case.
S’mores by the Fire
While Tracker has never shown Colter ending a long day on the road with some graham crackers, chocolate and marshmallows but he has definitely treated himself while on the road.
Gazing at the Stars
The area west of the Hudson River was the perfect setting for identifying stars and using them to guide the way during late night strolls. Colter definitely knows a thing or two about allowing the night to light up his journey.
Searching for Clues
Tracker fans also had the opportunity to put their detective skills to the test while in the wilderness.
Tracker airs on CBS Sundays at 8:30 p.m. ET. New episodes stream the next day on Paramount+.
