Hollywood Squares Preview: Drew Barrymore Details Last ‘Stick and Poke’

Drew Barrymore gets real about her tatted past — and shares a wild celeb story — during the upcoming episode of Hollywood Squares.
Barrymore, who is the center square on the rebooted game show, isn’t afraid to tattoo and tell in Us Weekly’s exclusive sneak peek at the Wednesday, February 19, episode of the CBS series.
“The term ‘stick and poke’ refers to a typically cheap and easy method of getting what?” host Nate Burleson asks Barrymore, 49, in the clip, which makes panelist Ross Mathews raise his eyebrows.
Barrymore doesn’t skip a beat, answering, “It is a tattoo of which I have many. I’ve even had a stick and poke kind.”
Panelist Oliver Hudson then cheekily asks, “When was the last time you had a stick and poke?” hinting at the sexual connotation of the phrase in question.
“Weirdly in like a hotel bathroom with Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day and my ex-boyfriend Justin Long,” Barrymore responds rather matter-of-fact.
The Never Been Kissed actress insists the “stick and poke” session was “so innocent.” Barrymore adds, “It doesn’t sound like it, but it was.”
Mathews shakes his head from his own square, adding, “No, it doesn’t.” Fellow panelist Yvette Nicole Brown, meanwhile, lets out a big laugh from her cubicle.
The rest of the celebrity guests for the “You Like Granny Panties” episodes include Whitney Cummings, Akbar Gbajabiamila, Gabriel “Fluffy” Iglesias, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog and Sam Jay.
Barrymore dated Long, 46, from 2007 to 2008 before rekindling their romance while filming 2009’s He’s Just Not That Into You. The exes split for good that same year.
The pair have remained friends over the years regardless of their relationship status.
“I don’t think love — unless there’s some, like, great offense; some criminal offense — I don’t think love disappears,” Long explained during a May 2024 episode of Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s “Dinner’s on Me” podcast, before speaking about Barrymore. “I mean that about her. When I think about her, I have such deep affection and, you know, always root for her. I love her.”
Long said, “At the end of the day, we are dear friends.” He noted that he continues to be fond of his ex-girlfriend because of her personality.
“When you’re with Drew, she is so hyper-present and loving,” he continued. “But it’s not a schtick — it’s not an act. So being on her show was that experience and the reminder of that, and how just wonderful that glow feels.”
Long, who married Kate Bosworth in 2023, proved that he still has a connection with Barrymore when he appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show in 2022. He was also a panelist on two episodes of Hollywood Squares earlier this year.
Barrymore, meanwhile, is the center square on the game show so she is part of each episode. (Romantically, the actress is single. She shares daughters Olive and Frankie with ex-husband Will Kopelman.)
Hollywood Squares airs on CBS Wednesdays with back-to-back episodes at 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. ET. Fans can also stream new episodes on Paramount+ the next day.
The game show will air at a special time on Wednesday, February 26, 10 p.m. ET and 11 p.m. PT. following the season premiere of Survivor.
