Giants’ Cam Skattebo Criticized by NFL Star for WWE Appearance After Injury

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo got physical at WWE Raw just weeks after suffering a horrific season-ending injury — which didn’t sit well with a former Super Bowl champion.

“This how you make sure you have a short NFL career 🤦,” former NFL safety T.J. Ward wrote via X on Monday, November 17.

Ward, 38, played eight seasons in the NFL from 2010 to 2017 with the Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, winning a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2016.

Skattebo, 23, was ringside at Madison Square Garden on Monday night, wearing a Matt Rempe New York Rangers jersey while sitting next to comedian Andrew Schulz

The girlfriend of New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo showed her support after his gruesome season-ending injury. Chloe Rodriguez broke her silence via social media on Monday, October 27, one day after Skattebo, 23, underwent surgery to repair the dislocated ankle he suffered during the Giants game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, October […]

Things took a turn when WWE superstar Dominik Mysterio approached Skattebo and Schulz, 42, and began insulting the sold-out crowd.

“The only good thing that’s ever come out of New York City is standing right in front of you,” Mysterio, 28, boasted.

Mysterio then turned his attention squarely at Skattebo, saying, “The only champion New York has seen in — can you count, Cam? How many years? He don’t know. He can’t count.”

Schulz attempted to grab the microphone from Mysterio, which resulted in Mysterio pushing Schulz backwards into his ringside seat.

That’s when Skattebo — who suffered a gnarly dislocated ankle against the Philadelphia Eagles on October 26 — stood up to take things into his own hands, going face-to-face with Mysterio.

Mysterio’s Judgment Day comrades made their way over to act as backup, which is when Skattebo pushed superstar JD McDonagh to the ground, eliciting an uproarious response from the Garden crowd.

The move didn’t sit well with the rest of the Judgment Day, who attacked Skattebo and a group of his Giants teammates who were sitting nearby.

Skattebo took a decent pop from Mysterio as a massive melee ensued, but appeared to leave Madison Square Garden without suffering further injury.

The Giants running back underwent surgery to repair his dislocated ankle on Monday, October 27, one day after he was carted off the field at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.

“Thank you everyone for the support!!” Skattebo wrote via X hours after the successful operation. “Surgery went well. I just want to thank the city of Philly for taking the best care of me. Every moment I spent in the hospital with family and friends I felt loved and supported in every way ❤️ thank you to the doctors, surgeons, and staff that did their best work on me.”

He added, “This is just the beginning of my journey and I can’t wait to show you guys all about it!!! GOD has a plan for me , stick the course and it will all work itself out , BRB 🫡 #LFG.”

Skattebo, who was selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, had quickly become a fan favorite in New York before his injury.

The Giants have struggled in his absence, losing three consecutive games to the San Francisco 49ers, Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.
