Denise Richards Wears Leather Dress at Court Amid Aaron Phypers Battle
Denise Richards made a style statement for a court appearance amid her ongoing legal battle against estranged husband Aaron Phypers.
Richards, 54, wore an above-the-knee blue leather dress featuring a collared neckline, short sleeves and a button-down front while joined by her bodyguard and lawyer in Los Angeles on Monday, October 6. It was tailored and fitted at the waist with a bow draping down her side.
She completed her look with large black sunglasses and peep-toe heels.
The reality star showed up for court as she attempted to make her case for turning her temporary restraining order into a permanent order after accusing Phypers, 53, of abuse amid the former couple’s bitter divorce war. (The exes tied the knot in September 2018.)
He filed for divorce from Richards on July 7, after six years of marriage, demanding that she pay him monthly spousal support.
Richards filed court docs pleading for a temporary restraining order days later, claiming, “Aaron would frequently violently choke me, violently squeeze my head with both hands, tightly squeeze my arms, violently slap me in my face and head” and more. (Her TRO request was granted that same month.)
Phypers has denied Richards’ allegations that he was abusive during the marriage, previously telling Us Weekly in a statement, “These accusations are completely false and deeply hurtful.”
“Denise and I, like many couples, have faced our share of challenges, but any suggestion of abuse is categorically untrue,” he alleged. “I have always tried to approach our marriage with love, patience, and respect. I ask for privacy as we navigate personal matters, and I hope that the public and media will refrain from spreading harmful and baseless claims.”
As Us previously reported, Richards’ extended restraining order request hearing was postponed to this month on September 8.
The judge presiding over their case had granted her access to one of the couple’s residences on September 13 so she could “retrieve her mother’s and her own personal property, including the dogs.”
Phypers was ordered to stay 100 yards away from the home, per the temporary restraining order.
Phypers, on the other hand, has accused Richards of cheating and more, claiming she hit him, scratched him and smashed his phone during their alleged disputes. Richards, however, claims that Phypers is the aggressor in their relationship.
In court docs obtained by Us, he alleged, “I believe that this entire domestic violence proceeding is merely a ruse to try to cut me off from being able to obtain spousal support.”
As their court war heats up, Phypers revealed his plans to call her ex-husband, Charlie Sheen, up to testify. (Sheen, 60, and Richards were married from 2002 to 2006.)
He also is considering calling upon Richards’ former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills costar Brandi Glanville. He filed court docs with a list of witnesses on September 30, Us previously confirmed.
Meanwhile, Phypers said he and his family, including his mother Patricia Phypers, father Steven Phypers and brother Brett Phypers, are preparing to respond to Richards’ abuse allegations.
