Chelsea Lazkani’s Ex Jeff Claims She Was Writing ‘Unauthorized Checks’
Selling Sunset star Chelsea Lazkani’s estranged husband, Jeff Lazkani, is claiming she’s slowing down their divorce proceedings.
Per documents obtained by Us Weekly, Jeff, 40, claimed Chelsea, 31, is engaging in “delay tactics” by “requesting protections that she has no right to.” Jeff proceeded to poke holes in her requests she recently filed with the court.
Jeff alleged that the Netflix star and real estate agent is requesting to be named as the sole beneficiary of various bank accounts, but the accounts are closed.
“As [Chelsea] is aware these accounts were closed due to the fact that [she] was writing unauthorized checks after the date of separation and filing of her [divorce] petition, against this account which was my personal account,” the docs read. “Therefore, there is no such account to name her as the beneficiary of.”
Jeff also claimed that Chelsea wants compensation for any tax liabilities “yet she fails to advise the court that the parties have filed separate taxes” in 2023.
“[She] is self-employed, I am unable to verify the income listed on her personal tax return or the large number of items that she writes off, and therefore, I opted to file separate tax returns,” the docs read.
Jeff also pointed to her request that the court order him “to maintain the health insurance.” He claimed he has paid for her health insurance throughout their marriage and since their separation.
“I was clear that I would continue to maintain the health insurance,” the docs read. “I have always made it clear that I will be sure to maintain insurance for our children. They are my first priority and I have done everything I can to protect them throughout this process.”
Jeff, who shares Maddox, 4, and Melia, 4, with Chelsea, alleged that “irreconcilable differences have arisen that have led to the irremediable breakdown of our marriage.”
“I do not believe that the passage of time, counseling or any other assistance by the Court can save our marriage. Under no circumstances do I believe [Chelsea] and I could resolve our issues and reunify,” the docs read. “In fact, [she] has utilized tactics against me publicly and has been untruthful about allegations made about me publicly, to the detriment of our ability to communicate, which I hope will eventually be resolved so amends could be made for the wellbeing of our children.”
Jeff claimed that the main reason why he and Chelsea have not been able to settle their case is because of “unnecessary delays.”
As Us previously reported, Jeff asked the court in October to bifurcate their case so the one-time couple could be legally single first before finalizing other issues in their divorce.
“I would like to move forward with my life and request that this Court terminate my marital status,” the docs read. “I believe that proceeding to bifurcate status will decrease the number of issues that remain between [Chelsea] and I and will streamline the issues and help us better focus on our children and dividing our assets.”
Chelsea filed for divorce from Jeff in March after seven years of marriage and he filed a response the following month. Neither Chelsea nor Jeff have revealed what led to their split.
