Channing Tatum Reflects on Unforgettable Trip With Ryan Reynolds

Channing Tatum knows he scored an unforgettable trip to Wales with Ryan Reynolds.

“Caffeine and dancing aside, that trip to Wrexham was something I’ll never forget,” Tatum, 44, wrote via Instagram on Sunday, February 9. “What Ryan Reynolds @vancityreynolds and @robmcelhenney have done for the community in Wrexham is magic. I spent a few days (and nights) there. The team and town have a sense of optimism and a ride or die loyalty that made me want to stay forever.”

In an assortment of photos, the Magic Mike star was seen exploring the city of Wales while also visiting the stadium where Wrexham plays their games.

Tatum also gave credit to coowners Reynolds, 48, and Rob McElhenney for creating something special that extends far beyond the sports community.

“Incredible work, Ryan and Rob,” he shared via Instagram. “Good people build good things. And thanks to the many beautiful people of Wrexham. Up the town! @wrexham_afc.”

Tatum recently had the opportunity to star alongside Wrexham players in a Super Bowl commercial for STōK Cold Brew. In the advertisement, the Step Up actor showcased his magical moves as he danced to C+C Music Factory’s 1990 hit “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now).”

After a little show-and-tell from Tatum, the team received plenty of ideas on how to perfect their celebration dance after scoring a goal.

“It’s like I’ve always said,” McElhenney wrote in the comments section, “It’s all in the hips.”

While Tatum may be a pro at filming projects on both the big and small screen, meeting the Wrexham athletes brought a certain kind of emotion to his Super Bowl commercial spot.

“I was definitely more nervous to meet them,” he told People in an interview published Wednesday, February 5. “I went to their game and they were so nice. We all just got on really quickly and really easily, and then we just brought that fun to the actual piece.”

Reynolds previously teased a special trip with Tatum to experience the magic of Wrexham. In his social media post, the actor proved there were other special guests who were part of the trip.

“A few friends came out for @wrexham_afc and we made the most of it,” he wrote via Instagram in December 2024 with photos of It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar and Green Day member Billie Joe Armstrong. “Unforgettable 36 hours made possible by the warmth and beauty of the people in this town. There’s nothing like it. ⚔️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿⚔️.”
