Blake Lively Reveals Why Her Most Played Song of 2024 is ‘Baby Shark’

Blake Lively revealed that her most played song of 2024 was “Baby Shark” — but she wants to make it clear that it’s not the result of her own musical taste.

“I have a 1-year-old,” Lively, 37, told The Hollywood Reporter for their 2024 Women in Entertainment Power 100 list published on Wednesday, December 4. “It’s heaven — and also musical hell.”

Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, welcomed their fourth child, son Olin, in February 2023. The couple also share daughters James, 9, Inez, 8, and Betty, 5.

Over the summer, Reynolds, 48, opened up about how he and Lively have “embraced the chaos” of parenthood.

“It’s the best thing that ever happened to me,” he shared on an episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast in July. “Embrace the chaos. We have four kids and nothing’s gonna be tidy ever again. It will, though, when they all leave the house and they’re all gone.”

Reynolds also opened up about what he has learned about parenting from Lively, and what advice he has for other fathers who are in the same boat.

“My wife always says, ‘They’re all under our roof right now. The whole family’s under our roof right now. We have them all. That is a fleeting thing and not an infinite resource,’” he explained. “So, [my advice to other dads is to] embrace the chaos of it all because it does get to you. And it’s OK to be like, ‘OK, f—k, I am dying here.’ Because that’s gonna happen every other day. If you can think about what you would give in 30 or 40 years to come back and enjoy this one moment, [then it’s worth it].”

Reynolds is not the only one to be open and honest about what being a parent of four is like. While Lively says it’s a goal of hers to be as present with her family as possible, she admits that sometimes it can be a struggle to balance her family life with work.

“When you’re working, sometimes you feel guilty for not being in your personal life in those hours you’re at work,” she explained in an interview with Entertainment Tonight in August. “And then, when you’re at work, you feel guilty by being distracted by wishing that you were at your personal life.”

Lively went on to note that having a good work-life balance is something she bonded over with her It Ends with Us costar Jenny Slate.

“Both of us really love our personal lives a lot and we love our job and we love our work, and we take it very, very seriously and we work very, very, very hard,” she shared. “And we completely immerse ourselves in our work. But who we are is defined by our personal life so much more than our work, and we can be both of those things at once.”
