Billy Ray Cyrus Denies Woman’s Claim To Be Miley’s Biological Mother

Billy Ray Cyrus slammed a woman’s claims that she’s Miley Cyrus’ biological mother, not Tish Cyrus.

According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, in May, a woman by the name of Jayme Lee alleged that she gave birth to Miley, 33, when she was 12.

Lee then claimed she entered into a “private adoption agreement” with Billy Ray, 64, and Tish, 58, but was caused “severe emotional distress” when Billy Ray allegedly “misrepresented the circumstances” of the adoption.

Lee alleged that her agreement with Billy Ray included the ability to choose Miley’s name and “continue to serve as her nanny” growing up.

In the documents, Lee accused Billy Ray and Tish of “breach of contract, fraud and misrepresentation, intentional inflection of emotional distress and unlawful interference with parental rights.”

Following Lee’s allegations, Billy Ray motioned to dismiss the case in November, noting that her claims are “false and absurd.”

“Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus-Purcell are the biological father and mother, respectively, of Miley Cyrus,” Billy Ray’s attorney shared, adding that he believed Lee’s purpose of submitting the claims was to harass Billy Ray and his family while “wasting” the court’s “time and resources.”

On Friday, December 5, Billy Ray’s attorney revealed that Lee’s lawsuit was dismissed.

“The Court dismissed the lawsuit with prejudice this morning and awarded Mr. Cyrus the recovery of his reasonable and necessary attorney’s fees and costs,” Billy Ray’s rep told the Daily Mail on Friday.

Billy Ray, Tish and Miley have yet to publicly comment on the case.

Billy Ray and Tish, who were married from 1993 to 2022, welcomed Miley in 1992 followed by son Braison in 1994 and daughter Noah in 2000. (Tish shares daughter Brandi, 38, and son Trace, 36, with ex-husband Baxter Neal Helson. Billy Ray adopted both Brandi and Trace and also shares son Christopher, 33, with ex Kristin Lucke.)

After family drama and years of estrangement between Miley and Billy Ray, Miley shared that she is now in contact with her whole family.

“As I’ve gotten older, I’m respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents — because my mom’s really loved my dad for her whole life, and I think being married to someone in the music industry and not being a part of it is obviously really hard,” Miley said in a May episode of The New York Times’ podcast “The Interview.” “I think I took on some of my mom’s hurt as my own because it hurt her more than it hurt me as an adult, and so I owned a lot of her pain.”

Miley went on to explain that “timing is everything” and she’s glad both of her parents have moved on. (Tish married Dominic Purcell in August 2023, while Billy Ray is currently dating Elizabeth Hurley.)

“Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness, too — I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing,” she shared. “I’m being an adult about it. At first it’s hard, because the little kid in you reacts before the adult in you can go, ‘Yes, that’s your dad, but that’s just another person that deserves to be in his bliss and to be happy.’ My child self has caught up.”
