Billy Corgan’s Wife Chloe, Son Augustus ‘OK’ After Tea Shop Car Crash

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan’s family is recovering after a car crash at his Madame ZuZu’s Teashop in Chicago.

“We’re at orthopedics [with my] mom. We’re giving you a little update because I haven’t come on TikTok in a while. So, there was an accident at ZuZu’s,” the singer’s wife, Chloe Mendel Corgan, said in a Friday, November 1, social media video. “Unfortunately, a car drove in, hit the banquette that my mom and my son were sitting at. They were impacted.”

She continued, “Luckily, everyone is going to be OK, but what a shock. … I’m figuring this all out too as a child, mother, business owner and boss.”

Billy, 57, and Chloe, 32, got married in September 2023. Together, they share son Augustus, 8, and daughter Philomena, 5. Chloe announced in August that she is pregnant with baby No. 3.

News broke on Wednesday, October 30, that a car had crashed into the side of the ZuZu’s café. Chloe, in her social media upload, praised her “great” staffers “in handling an emergency and making sure we could open efficiently.”

Immediately after the incident, Chloe shared in a statement that the circumstances “remain under investigation.” (Details about the driver’s identity or health status have not been publicly revealed.)

“This afternoon, a car drove over the curb and into Madame ZuZu’s, crashing through the window and sadly injuring one person — my mother, Jenny, who was spending the day and lunching with my son Augustus,” Chloe wrote in a Wednesday statement posted on Instagram. “Thankfully, he was able to leap out of the way and was not injured.”

Chloe added, “Our family is grateful for the swift assistance of the Highland Park and Deerfield first responders. To this, Madame ZuZu’s will be closed until further notice and we’ll provide updates as we move forward. Thank you for your support and understanding.”

Billy is currently on tour in Brazil, but he reshared Chloe’s Friday video onto his Instagram Story simply captioned, “Update.”

The couple had just celebrated their first wedding anniversary last month.

“Today marks the one-year anniversary of our marriage,” Chloe wrote via Instagram in September. “To many more beautiful blessed years filled with love, family and life ❤️.”

At the time, she shared a video of Billy telling Augustus and Philomena that she is pregnant again.

“How is she pregnant?” Philomena asked while her older brother ran out of the room screaming.
