Ashley Tisdale Says Daughter Thought Zac Efron Was Her Dad

Ashley Tisdale’s daughter is a Troy Bolton fan.

While a guest on the “Breaking Beauty” podcast, Tisdale revealed that her 3-year-old daughter, Jupiter, whom she shares with husband Christopher French, has already seen High School Musical for the first time.

“She has seen High School Musical, I think when about a year ago maybe, my husband showed her it,” Tisdale said on the January 15 episode. “I was like, ‘What are you doing?’”

And, as Tisdale admits, the movie left Jupiter a little confused.

“She thought Zac Efron was her dad,” Tisdale revealed.

High School Musical’s love story between Troy Bolton and Gabriella Montez sparked an offscreen romance for the actors who played them. Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens, who portrayed Troy and Gabriella in the 2006 DCOM, notably started dating shortly after filming the first movie. The pair called it quits in 2010 after five years of […]

“She’s like, ‘Daddy!’ I was like, ‘No, no, no.’ Just because they have dark hair that is not Daddy,” Tisdale explained.

Unlike some kids who have no interest in what their parents do for a living, Tisdale said her daughter thrives watching her on screen.

Jupiter, who is also aware that her mom does Phineas and Ferb, was thrilled when she got to see a livestream of the premiere of Wicked and watch her mom walk the red carpet.

“She’s like, ‘I gotta see Mommy on the carpet, I gotta see Mommy on the carpet,’” Ashley said. “That’s the most exciting thing to her, is that I’m on a carpet at the Wicked premiere, which I have nothing to do with. It’s so funny. So she’s just so proud to see me on that. It’s really cute.”

And while Tisdale says she doesn’t believe her daughter is totally aware of what she does for a living, she’s starting to question why people she doesn’t know want to take pictures with her mom.

But the actress admitted she’s not quite ready to have that conversation with Jupiter. “She’s got such a normal life. Her little life is so cute and fun.”

Tisdale, who become a mom of two in September 2024, also talked about Emerson’s birth and not experiencing postpartum depression like she did after Jupiter’s birth.

“I’m so grateful to get to experience it this time where I don’t [have postpartum depression],” Tisdale said on the podcast, “because I just felt not present a lot of the time with Jupiter when she was younger.”

Tisdale says she continues to rely on meditation to help center herself as the day goes on.

As far as making a return to the big screen herself, Tisdale says she been acting since she was three and “will always love it.”

“It will always be something that I will try to find a project that I love that I’m gonna want to do and I’m sure that will come in time when I’m like I have to do this,” Tisdale said, “but I just love what I’m doing” with her Frenshe brand.
