Anna Faris Teases If She’d Return for a House Bunny Sequel

When it comes to a House Bunny sequel, Anna Faris is more than ready to hop right back into the role of Shelley Darlingson.

“Oh gosh, that would be so fun,” Faris, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her partnership with Scrubbing Bubbles. “I haven’t really explored it yet. [But] I mean, I would love to think that there would be a market for it. And I do for a weird reason always imagine Shelly as, like, either a country singer or a flight attendant. I don’t know.”

“She’s always in me,” she added. “Sweet Shelly.”

Faris starred in the 2008 comedy as a former Playboy Bunny who finds herself kicked to the curb by Hugh Hefner after she turns 27 (that’s 59 in bunny years). Down and dejected, she stumbles onto a college campus and discovers the severely weathered Zeta Alpha Zeta sorority. In her role as their house mom, she teaches them the art of self confidence — and learns a few of her own lessons along the way. Emma Stone, Colin Hanks, Kat Dennings, Katharine McPhee and Rumer Willis also star.

The House Bunny, of course, is just one on a long list of cult classic movies Faris has starred in over the years. 2005’s Just Friends was a bonafide hit that is still rewatched every holiday season, and Paramount announced last year that Scary Movie 7 is currently in the works.

Whether Faris will reprise her role as Cindy Campbell is not yet confirmed, but she made her last appearance as the character in Scary Movie 4. The franchise’s 25th anniversary is on July 7. While looking back at the past few decades, Faris confessed she never anticipated comedy becoming such a major aspect of her career, but she’s grateful life took her on a different path.

“When I got cast in the first Scary Movie, I mean, I was shocked. I’d never thought I would be able to make a living as an actor. It felt like the most impractical choice I could make, but I had never done comedy before,” she told Us. “I was never a comedic person, and now I can’t seem to get out of comedy. And so I think I’ve really embraced and appreciated, and there’s personal liberation that comes with nurturing comedic growth.”

“I guess what I mean by that is I’m more comfortable making a fool out of myself!” she added with a laugh.

A comedic icon to the rest of the world, Faris said her toughest critic remains 12-year-old son Jack, whom she shares with ex-husband Chris Pratt. The actress said that Jack often “rolls his eyes” at her jokes, but will “on occasion” admit she’s got the chops.

“But, you know, I love having a boy because that mother-son bond is something really special,” she continued. “He totally rolls his eyes at me, but he also begrudgingly is like, ‘You know, you’re funny mom.’ I love our relationship.”

Faris added that Jack is happy leaving the laughs to his mom — “Last I heard his dream job is to run a small fishing hut on a lake somewhere, so best of luck to him,” she quipped to Us — while she’s happy passing off house cleaning duties to Scrubbing Bubbles.

“I am notoriously a mess.like, I’m the kind of person who leaves globs of toothpaste and foundation in the sink. It was my job as a kid to clean the bathrooms in our house and growing up. So I was like in the toilet with an old toothbrush kind of kid and grumpy about it,” she told Us. “And so when Scrubbing Bubbles asked me to do this campaign, I was thrilled because it truly is the miracle product. It is just incredible. It makes cleaning the bathroom truly the easiest job in the world.”

Scrubbing Bubbles, America’s No. 1 selling bathroom cleaning brand, teamed up with Faris to launch the brand’s latest product line, Scrubbing Bubbles Easy Clean, as part of the brand’s newest video series and campaign “The Easiest Job in the World.” The series uses Faris’ comedic genius to “interview candidates” for “The Easiest Job in the World,” cleaning their bathrooms with Easy Clean.

“I got to go undercover [for the campaign] — which was kind of terrifying because my voice always gives me away — and I interview these unsuspecting participants, have them clean our demo bathroom and watch them and myself be amazed at how effective this product is,” she gushed. “It was a blast. It was so much fun.”
