Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris’ Divorce Is Progressing After Bitter Split

Ali Krieger and Ashlyn Harris’ divorce is ongoing — and possibly leading to a less contentious conclusion — as the two sides remain in negotiations.

Both parties filed for divorce separately in late 2023, with Krieger filing in New Jersey, citing “no reasonable prospect of reconciliation.” Harris did the same in Florida, saying their marriage was “irretrievably broken.” The newly-retired soccer champion asked the court to implement a “legal and residential custody arrangement and parenting time that protects the best interests of their two children.” She also requested the court divide their assets and liabilities equally — and that Harris pay her child support and legal fees.

Krieger’s complaint to end the marriage was initially dismissed after failing to provide proof of service to Harris in court, but that has since been reinstated, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.

A document filed by Krieger’s attorney, Amanda Trigg, argued that the motion should not have been dismissed in the first place and that by reinstating her filing, the two parties could move closer to a resolution.

Ashlyn Harris and Ali Krieger went from teammates to spouses – to exes. The athletes got engaged in September 2018, eight years after they met while playing for the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team. Harris and Krieger waited to make their relationship — and engagement — public until March 2019. “When we first met, it […]

“Negotiations have been ongoing between the parties and counsel, and reinstatement of the complaint may allow [Krieger and Harris] to enter an uncontested divorce,” the document reads.

Harris agreed to the motion in a consent order dated October 25.

The two soccer stars met in 2010 at the US Women’s National Team camp, with Harris later telling Sports Illustrated it was a “love-at-first-sight type of thing.” They married in 2019 and now share daughter Sloane, 3, and son Ocean, 2.

Krieger learned in 2023 that Harris had filed for divorce first while she was on the soccer field training with her then-club NJ/NY Gotham FC.

“I found out at training. I was on the field. And I came off the field, in the locker room, and I was obviously devastated,” Krieger said in a January 2024 interview with Self magazine. “My entire team came over for a dance party the night the news broke.”

“Then my teammates just started walking through the door,” she continued. “All of them. At different times. Until 2 in the morning, we were there, just hanging out, dancing, putting music on YouTube. We were sitting in the playroom, in my kitchen; we were dancing and hanging out, and they were all bringing wine and flowers, and just … themselves.”

Amid the fallout of their split, Harris denied cheating rumors as she soon began dating actress Sophia Bush.

“People have run with a narrative that’s unbearably painful. Not all marriages last forever. Ours did not. For many reasons,” she wrote via Instagram. “And while I understand that the false narratives about why might feel juicer or make a better headline, they are simply not true.”

While Harris and Bush went public with their relationship in April, Krieger has not revealed the identity of her new girlfriend.

“[With] everything I went through last year, I want to keep that more so for me and for her,” she told E News in September. “I think it’s really important that I take this process slower, have a good concern for it and make sure that it’s moving in the right direction before any big announcement.”
