Kaia Gerber Reveals What She Stole From Cindy Crawford’s Closet

Kaia Gerber is no stranger to shopping from her mom Cindy Crawford’s closet — and she’s planning on keeping everything she “borrows.”

“I have stolen some things from my mom [Cindy Crawford] that I don’t wear much but don’t want to give back!” Gerber, 24, told The Times of London in an interview published on Saturday, December 6. “Devastatingly, we’re not the same shoe size, but I stole a black leather Alaïa coat from her when I was 15 and I’m holding on to that for dear life.”

Gerber, a model and actress, also revealed that she can get ready to go out in 20 minutes if she has an outfit picked out.

“If not it could be over an hour, so I plan all my outfits and take photos before I go anywhere,” she explained.

Gerber might be OK with shamelessly stealing her mother’s clothing, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she thinks her mom is “cool.” As she admitted in Us Weekly’s exclusive teaser clip of the debut episode of the “What Are We Even Doing?” podcast in September, she sees the iconic supermodel as, well, just a mom.

“They did this supermodels documentary on Apple. And I watched it and I was like, sobbing, in tears. And I called her and I was like, I think, you know, and she’s my mom. I’m not asking her like, ‘So, why did you decide to do Playboy?’ or, ‘How did you do the Pepsi commercial?’ Like, I wasn’t thinking about that stuff,” she said at the time.

“And so, to actually hear her story, that was like a huge moment for me where I realized …,” Kaia went on, leading host Kyle MacLachlan to ask if the pair spoke frequently about Crawford’s career.

“No, I mean … I guess how much do you talk to your … are your kids really curious about your career?” she asked MacLachlan, to which the Sex and the City star admitted, “No, not really.”

Gerber did say that she often turns to her mom when she needs advice, especially when it comes to navigating the often unforgiving fashion and entertainment industry.

“I’m at that point now where I’m like, I’ll take all the advice I can get,” she explained. “I’m so curious about, like, what led her, especially because she didn’t come from a family in the industry at all.”

Kaia has also realized just how vital her mom has been when it comes to her career.

“I don’t know what I would do without her,” she said.

Gerber followed in her mother’s footsteps as a model for Versace’s junior line when she was just 10 years old. She made her London Fashion Week debut in 2017.

Gerber also emulated her mother in May 2025 at the premiere of Overcompensating in Los Angeles, when she wore an outfit that immediately called to mind Crawford’s iconic Dolce & Gabbana runway look from 1992.

The pair each rocked huge, voluminous curls and a lingerie-style top. Gerber paired hers with a black button-up cardigan and hot pants, while Crawford rocked a little black dress featuring halter straps, long sleeves, attached gloves and a cutout over her chest.
