Emily Osment Reveals When She Wants to See Georgie, Mandy’s Imminent Split

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage fans are not looking forward to the main couple’s imminent split — but when does Emily Osment expect the heartbreaking moment to take place?

“Just personally, I hope it takes them a really long time to get there,” Osment exclusively told Us Weekly about her hope for the hit CBS show. “Hence the title, everybody knows that that’s coming at some point — and it keeps people watching a little longer.

Osment preferred a lengthy build-up, adding, “Personally for me, I’d like to see it have some legs before they break up.”

Viewers originally met Georgie (Montana Jordan) and Mandy (Osment) on The Big Bang Theory prequel series Young Sheldon, which aired from 2017 to 2024. It featured Iain Armitage in the titular role and paved the way for a spinoff focused on Sheldon’s older brother by introducing his love interest, Mandy.

As The Big Bang Theory viewers know, it has been mentioned that Georgie has been married several times. This has subsequently concerned fans rooting for Georgie and Mandy, but Osment urged Us not to give up hope.

“I’m worried too, but I think it’s going to be OK,” she teased. “I think even if they do split, my hope is that the second marriage is also Mandy. All the marriages [should] be Mandy.”

While the show’s title does give away an eventual breakup, Osment isn’t too in the know of exactly what will unfold from season to season.

“I am saying this [based on] nothing at all. We get the scripts about 12 hours before we read it at the table. So we have no idea what’s coming down the pipeline ever,” she noted about whether Georgie and Mandy’s age gap could play a role in their marriage falling apart. “We can maybe assume it’s because of the age difference. It could be that and a whole bundle of other stuff.”

Osment credited the sitcom for telling grounded stories about the ups and downs couples face in a marriage.

“It could be anything, but I have this inkling that it may have something to do with him soon becoming the tire king of Texas,” she added. “We know from The Big Bang Theory that he’s the most successful tire God, basically. When people become really successful in their job, sometimes it can affect their home life.”

Regardless of the journey Georgie and Mandy are going on, Osment expressed gratitude at the opportunity to be involved with such a fun project, telling Us, “It does get better and better with seemingly every episode. It’s a reflection of our writers knowing these characters so well for so long through Young Sheldon and now through this. Getting to hyperfocus on Georgie and Mandy and learning a little bit more about what makes them tick and what makes them mad and what keeps the marriage together and what could potentially make a marriage fall apart.”

The midseason 2026 TV schedule is stacked — but when is your favorite show coming back? On ABC, Grey’s Anatomy is returning after the season 22 fall finale ended with Jo’s (Camilla Luddington) premature emergency C-section. Jo’s fate was unclear and the trailer for the rest of the season hinted at a possible loss. Season […]

She teased: “We’re really getting into the nitty-gritty of two people trying to raise a young kid with a huge age difference between them. Both of them are working, and both of their careers are going really well. They are living with their parents, so it’s a lot to juggle — and the dynamics of the characters are really coming alive this season. It’s been so fun. It’s a really good balance of levity and really heartwarming, tough topics.”

After being in the industry since she was a child, Osment is at a place in her life where she has more freedom to choose projects that bring her joy. Looking ahead, Osment told Us she wasn’t ruling anything out when looking for new possible roles on both the big and small screen.

“It really depends on what comes across my desk. If I look at something and I know that if I work on it, I’m going to be proud of myself and proud of the work that I do and proud of the product that comes out of it, then that’s something that I want to work on,” she noted. “And Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage is a show where I’m so proud of what we’re doing here. It’s working because I’m having a lot of fun, and if it’s not fun, then it’s not working. I look for stuff that enriches my personal life.”

In addition to her hit sitcom, Osment would love to take on a role in a rom-com.

“I’m looking forward to our hiatus next year to see what comes up, what I have time for and I think it’s always good to shake it up and do something different,” she added. “Whether that is [a rom-com or is] horror.”

Osment continued: “Jessie Prez [from the show] is destined to get me in a Marvel movie. I don’t know if I would be the superhero but he is set in his ways about me doing some sort of superhero film, which I think is so cute.”

Outside of her onscreen work, Osment has prioritized using her work for philanthropic causes as well — starting with her joining the board of American Rivers.

“This was such a huge surprise for me this year, and I’m so grateful that they took a chance on me. I’ve never acted on a board before and my interest in them came very organically. I am very outdoorsy, and I’ve met some incredible people on some of the river trips that I’ve taken. This past year, I did an eight-day off grid trip down the Colorado River with about 17 people I’d never met before,” she recalled. “I met some incredible folks from American Rivers, and by day three, I talked to CEO Tom Kiernan.”

Osment has been thrilled by the trust to advocate for the organization, which has worked to safeguard the 4.4 million miles of rivers and streams essential to our nation’s clean drinking water, extraordinary wildlife and the strength of our communities.

“I didn’t go to college for water law but I’m really interested in the way that we preserve the life of rivers in America. It’s got such a huge impact that people don’t really know and it’s really important to me,” she explained. “This is something that I can do, that feels important and that we’re going to see a change in our lifetime, which is very cool. It’s fascinating and they are doing some incredible work that I’m really proud of.”

Osment may be booked and busy as an actress but uplifting important causes has continued to be something she will always find time for.

“I’ve campaigned on Capitol Hill with the Creative Coalition and I’ve worked with Project Angel Food. There’s a lot of really amazing companies out there that I love and they’re doing great work. With American Rivers, every single person I’ve met feels like a friend and it was the first time I joined a board where everybody came from different places and everyone has the same mindset,” she shared. “It brought a lot of life into the proactive work that I do and it’s so easy to help protect the health of our rivers. We just have to spread the word more.”

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage airs on CBS Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET and episodes are currently streaming on Paramount+.
