Celebrities Who Have Pitched Themselves for DWTS: Simu Liu and More
These stars are ready to dance.
Dancing With the Stars has seen a resurgence in popularity in recent years, with the November 2025 season 34 finale becoming the show’s highest-rated in a decade, according to Deadline. With that in mind, it’s no wonder that many celebrities are itching to get themselves on the ballroom floor.
Marvel actor Simu Liu, for example, revealed to Entertainment Weekly that he thinks about competing on the show “regularly.”
“I think about it at least once a week. I don’t like follow them on Instagram, but I love dance, and I love watching people dance, and I love dancing,” he told the outlet during a November 2025. I feel like I’ve weirdly kept up with [season 34], and watching Dylan Efron and watching Robert Irwin, and all that. I mean, trust me, I think about it regularly. So, I mean at some point in the future, if I can block out that amount of time, I would be down, yeah.”
Liu isn’t the only star who has expressed interest in doing the show. Keep scrolling to see other celebs who have pitched themselves for DWTS:
Tay Lautner
Taylor Lautner’s wife, Tay Lautner, has often expressed interest in joining DWTS. During a January 2024 episode of their podcast, “The Squeeze,” Tay said it would “be really fun” to be cast, while Taylor said doing the show is his wife’s “dream.”
Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight
Twin influencers Brooklyn and Bailey McKnight have lobbied for spots on the show for years. They’ve reached out to the casting team several times and made public pleas on their social media to get on the show, but to no avail. However, in October 2025, the twins got to attend their first-ever live taping of DWTS.
“The last two times we’ve applied, they have said they do not want to cast twins because they don’t want to split the votes,” Bailey explained in an Instagram video before the taping. “We have even tried to convince them to do an iconic duos season. Our response to that was: ‘Then pick one of us.’ At this point, it’s just been such a lifelong dream. I don’t care if it’s Brooklyn or me.”
Taylor Frankie Paul
Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul threw her hat in the ring after costars Jen Affleck and Whitney Leavitt competed on season 34.
“When DWTS asked [about] my dance experience? Umm … no but I am the creator of the Baja blast,” Paul captioned a July 2025 TikTok video of herself dancing. “I’ll be there if you need people next season.”
Jennifer Love Hewitt
Jennifer Love Hewitt said in 2019 that she’s “ready” to join Dancing With the Stars and expressed her love for the show.
“Oh my gosh, I’d pass out,” she joked in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.
Though Hewitt said she would be “way too nervous” at first, she reassured fans that she would answer the casting call “the second they ask.”
Christy Carlson Romano
Disney alum Christy Carlson Romano has been a popular choice among fans for Dancing With the Stars. The Even Stevens star revealed on the “Big Name Bitches” podcast in September 2023 that she attempted to get herself cast in the competition twice, but she was allegedly “waitlisted” both times.
In one case, Romano said she “had just had a baby, and I was like, ‘Guys, I’m gonna get my [pre] baby body back.’ They do Disney nights, I was like, ‘We could do a Kim Possible night where I’m dancing.’”
Romano claimed that the casting department told her they would “call her,” but they never did.
