Brianna ‘Chickenfry’ LaPaglia Cries While Sharing PCOS Diagnosis
Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia is asking fans for advice after her recent health diagnosis.
“I really hope this reaches the right side of TikTok,” LaPaglia, 26, said in a TikTok video posted on Tuesday, November 25. “I got my Prenuvo [full body MRI scan], I got my results back, and I kind of knew it was gonna confirm the PCOS, but now it did, and I’m, like, low-key freaking out.”
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, or PCOS, is a hormonal disorder that can cause irregular periods, excess hair growth and infertility, according to Mayo Clinic. Other symptoms can include obesity, patches of dark skin, skin tags, thinning hair and recurring ovarian cysts.
It is also possible to have no symptoms with PCOS, which LaPaglia said was true in her case.
“I don’t feel … nothing feels wrong with me, like, I don’t have symptoms,” she continued. “Like, sometimes my period is weird, but honestly, it’s usually always regular. Like, if I’m super stressed, I will miss it for a few months.”
LaPaglia added that her main concern is the disorder’s potential impact on her fertility and ability to family plan.
“All I’m worried about now, I’m like, ‘Am I gonna be able to have a baby one day?’” she asked as she wiped away tears. “Oh, my God, I’m freaking the f*** out.”
The influencer concluded, “Anyone who has PCOS, f***ing talk to me. Talk me off this ledge right now.”
Hundreds of fans flooded the comments with advice and support for LaPaglia, with many reassuring her that it is possible to have children with PCOS. Others suggested that she meet with a fertility specialist to ask any questions that she may have.
“You’re gonna be OK queen, any diagnosis is scary but everyone’s experience is different!! I know so many PCOS women that conceived,” one user wrote.
“Hey fellow PCOS queen. This news is scary but now theres a whole world of us to connect with,” another fan added. “Youre not alone! Science is evolving and I am confident that we are going to get more attention in medical research in the next few years. Hang in there.”
LaPaglia’s diagnosis comes as she enters a new chapter in her life following the end of her “BFFs” podcast, which she previously hosted with TikTok star Josh Richards. She and Richards, 23, said goodbye to the podcast after five years during the “BFFS: THE FINALE” livestream on November 18.
“We were way more emotional than we thought,” LaPaglia exclusively told Us Weekly while promoting her appearance on Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test season 4, which concluded on November 20. “We had already planned this out months ahead. It [had] just run its course for us.”
LaPaglia is now focused on her “PlanBri Uncut” podcast, which returned for weekly episodes in October after a year-long hiatus.
“I want it to just be a podcast that people can count on every week. Listen to and feel like they have a best friend through their headphones, through their car,” she told Us. “Wherever they’re watching it.”
In addition to her podcast shift, LaPaglia was one of the finalists on Special Forces season 4. She made it to the interrogation challenge in the finale before self-eliminating.
“I accomplished what I came here to do,” LaPaglia exclusively told Us of her experience on the show. “Of course, if I knew it was five minutes before the show was over, I would have held out. I don’t even know how long we’ve been captured for because you don’t know what time it is. [But] I came here to do what I wanted to do and I’m satisfied with leaving.”
LaPaglia added that she is still figuring herself out after the show.
“This happened at the perfect time for me in my life. Being 26 and going on the show, like what’s going on? You think your 20s are going to be the best and most fun years of your life. In hindsight, it’s literally like, ‘Am I in hell?’” she said. “Is this actual hell in every sense of the way? This show happened at the perfect turning point and it’s allowed me to grow up and show this new side of myself to new audiences.”
