Vanderpump Rules Retrospective Unveils Deleted Scenes After Overhaul
Before Vanderpump Rules officially introduced a new cast to viewers, Bravo opened up the vault to reveal new deleted scenes featuring the original stars of the show.
During Bravo’s Raise Your Glass to 11 Seasons special on Tuesday, November 25, Andy Cohen visited Lisa Vanderpump‘s SUR for a pumptini, some goat cheese balls and to celebrate the hit series by looking back at the most iconic moments — before revealing some never-been-shared information about Vanderpump Rules.
“Here’s a production secret. The title Vanderpump Rules wasn’t chosen until after filming for season 1 had wrapped. An alternate title that the crew had loved was Just the Tip,” he shared. “Can you imagine? The cast has never stopped at just the tip of anything.”
The Vanderpump Rules franchise initially started in 2013 as a spinoff of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. From there, it grew into a pop culture phenomenon with largely the same cast season to season until Tom Sandoval‘s split from Ariana Madix due to his affair with Rachel “Raquel” Leviss called the show’s future into question.
Bravo originally put season 12 on pause after the cast ended up at odds following Scandoval. The network announced in November 2024 that an entirely new cast would take over after 11 seasons.
“The last 12 years of filming have been an extraordinary run full of laughter, tears and everything in between,” Lisa, 64, said in a statement at the time. “I can’t thank enough those who have shared their lives. How I love you all.”
Lisa noted she was excited to usher in the show’s successors, adding, “In the restaurant business, one shift always gives way to another. Cheers to the next generation of Vanderpump Rules.”
Us Weekly has since exclusively introduced Bravo fans to the rebooted cast of the show: Venus Binkley, Jason Cohen, Shayne Davis, Chris Hahn, Angelica Jensen, Marcus Johnson, Audrey Lingle, Natalie Maguire, Demy Selem and Kim Suarez.
The retrospective, meanwhile, allowed viewers to say goodbye to the OG cast while getting one final look at their past drama. Keep scrolling for a guide to every deleted scene featured in the special:
Ariana’s Introduction to the Show
Before joining SUR as a new bartender in season 2, Ariana was asked by Scheana to come onboard amid cast feuds.
“The girls are bitches, as always. Stassi [Schroeder], Kristen [Doute] and Katie [Maloney] think they run things at SUR. Maybe last summer I put up with that a little bit but I’m literally putting my foot down — even when it hurts,” Scheana explained. “I can’t deal with their petty bulls*** anymore.”
She continued: “Stassi and Kristen and Katie don’t care about anything other than themselves but I can’t even let it hurt my feelings because they’re just not good people. I have good people that I surround myself with so I’m over it.”
Ariana, meanwhile, said she “can’t imagine working” with the trio but as VPR fans know, she eventually joined the show and the rest is history.
Kristen Reaching Out to Ariana’s Ex
Season 3 got off to a rocky start when Sandoval started dating Ariana shortly after his split from Kristen. The then-SUR waitress was convinced Sandoval and Ariana had an affair before he ended their relationship, which inspired a vindictive move (or two) from Kristen.
“Why would you hit up Ariana’s ex-boyfriend?” Sandoval asked Kristen, who replied, “He hit me up. I didn’t hit him up. He wanted to know if you guys were together when they were together, and I said, ‘I don’t know the timeline of her relationship with him.’”
Sandoval accused Kristen of trying to “sabotage” his happiness, which she confirmed in a confessional.
“Do I want to sabotage Tom and Ariana’s relationship? The fact is, you’ve cheated on me for three years at this point,” she claimed. “I want Tom and Ariana to fall apart. So guilty as charged.”
Surviving Sandoval
In a deleted scene from season 11, Ariana reflected on weathering a cheating scandal in the public eye.
“Things are better now than they were. But then everything that does happen that’s good, people are like, ‘It’s because you got cheated on.’ The internet says that,” Ariana told Lisa, who fired back, “If you look online, you have more support than anything I’ve ever seen before.”
Lisa then asked Katie if she was seeing someone, which the Something About Her cofounder denied. Katie did note, however, that she enjoyed a sext here and there from unnamed guys.
“Is [there such a thing as] FaceTime sex? Have I been missing out?” Lisa quipped. “I would have felt so left out.”
Making Amends
Vanderpump Rules viewers saw Katie and Tom Schwartz date, get engaged, get married and ultimately divorced throughout the show’s 11-season run. In a clip from season 10, Katie sat down with Sandoval to address the fallout.
“Katie, I don’t mean this in a selfish way but when I found out you and Schwartz were getting divorced, I would start sobbing in the car,” Sandoval revealed before admitting he felt at fault for distracting Schwartz from his marriage with their business ventures.
Katie, however, denied that it was all Sandoval’s fault.
“I feel like some people think it came out of nowhere but it definitely didn’t. It was something that I was on my mind for a really long time because obviously I didn’t want it,” she noted. “Ultimately, I didn’t have a choice in this relationship or in this marriage with Tom. I wasn’t happy. I thought we were headed toward the future we both wanted.”
She continued: “I needed to admit that to myself and once I did, I put myself as No. 1 one for the first time in a very long time. … Last night, he was such a jerk to me. I don’t think we can have a friendship. We’re getting into the same fights where he’s more concerned about someone else’s feelings and giving them the benefit of doubt. That is the reason why I am divorcing him because I couldn’t deal with that as his wife and I can’t deal with that as a friend. I realized this morning that I don’t have to. I don’t deserve it.”
