Does Fiyero Get Married to Glinda or Elphaba in Wicked: For Good?

Wicked: For Good brings the movie musical’s final chapter to the big screen, but who does Fiyero ride off into the sunset with: Glinda or Elphaba?

Wicked part 1, which hit theaters in 2024, introduced a love triangle (of sorts) after Prince Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) showed up at Shiz University and danced through life — and into the heart of Glinda (Ariana Grande). While she swooned over his good looks, Fiyero entertained her advances but found himself intrigued when he ended up in the woods having a sexually charged moment with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) while they saved a lion cub together.

Part 2 of the movie musical, which retells the second act of the famous Broadway show, delves deeper into the romantic drama. The film picks back up with Elphaba, now labeled as the Wicked Witch of the West, in hiding, while “Glinda the Good” is busy in her new role as the official spokesperson and propaganda arm of The Wizard (Jeff Goldblum).

What Happens Between Fiyero and Glinda in ‘Wicked: For Good’?

For Good reveals that Glinda and Fiyero are engaged to be married. This comes as a surprise to many — including Fiyero himself, who is not even given a heads-up about the engagement until Glinda announces it to the entirety of Oz. While Fiyero initially begrudgingly accepts his new relationship status, he changes his mind when he’s reunited with Elphaba.

How Do Fiyero and Elphaba Reunite in ‘Wicked: For Good’?

Despite being engaged to Glinda, Fiyero and Elphaba meet back up in their forest. They sleep together, confessing their love for each other during a song titled “As Long as You’re Mine.”

When Nessarose, a.k.a the Wicked Witch of the East (Marissa Bode), is killed by Dorothy’s (Bethany Weaver) house later in the film, Fiyero shows up to arrest Elphaba, but he and Glinda help her escape instead. He is in turn arrested by The Wizard’s guards and tied up to a pole in the middle of a field. Terrified he’s about to die, Elphaba casts a spell — to the tune of “No Good Deed” — so that he will survive. She turns him into The Scarecrow, a creature with no brain.

Do Fiyero and Elphaba End Up Together in ‘Wicked: For Good’?

Rejoice — because yes, they do! Smart as ever, Elphaba concocts a plan to fake her own death and escape to freedom after being accused of her sister’s death. When Dorothy throws a bucket of water on Elphaba seemingly melting her, Elphaba uses Fiyero’s knowledge of the kingdom’s secret passageways to hide under the floor.

When everyone thinks she’s died — including a devastated Glinda — it gives Elphaba and Fiyero the opportunity to run away and leave Oz forever. The pair once again confess their feelings for each other before crossing the desert to what they call the “beyond,” unsure of what the future may hold for them.

But Wait, What Happens to Glinda in ‘Wicked: For Good’?

Although Glinda and Elphaba (who some might say are the real love affair of the story) make up at the end of the film (and even exchange “I love you’s”), Elphaba keeps the fact she’s alive from her best friend. Crushed by her friend’s alleged “death,” Glinda marches back to defeat The Wizard and Madame Morrible (Michelle. Yeoh). She reveals to The Wizard that he is Elphaba’s biological father, causing him to leave Oz, and arrests Madame Morrible. She remains in Oz, vowing to make a better future for its citizens.
