Married to Medicine’s Heavenly Kimes Talks Son’s Arrest at BravoCon 2025

Dr. Heavenly Kimes faced a challenging time filming Married to Medicine after her son Damon Jr. was arrested for assault.

“[I went into the season] how I always go into the seasons,” Heavenly, 54, exclusively told Us Weekly on Saturday, November 16, while attending BravoCon 2025 in Las Vegas. “Whatever I’m going through actually comes up on camera.”

She added, “I don’t like to talk about it, but I was forced to talk about a lot of things this season that I never do, and it’s explosive.”

Heavenly, who has starred on Married to Medicine since 2014’s season 2, further offered insight into what made season 12 so difficult.

Now paging Married to Medicine fans. The doctor has ordered some new episodes to enjoy sooner rather than later. “Listen, my son got arrested, I’m running [a political] campaign,” she told Us. “I’m running for Congress, and it was just a lot of personal issues. It was a very difficult season for me this year.”

Damon Jr., 28, was indicted earlier this year for felony aggravated assault on a police officer during a 2023 altercation. The case was placed on judicial hold in August, where Damon was instructed to complete community service and mental health counseling.

Heavenly previously said in an April livestream with Carlos King that the entire situation was a “big misunderstanding.”

“It was years ago, Damon never told me,” she said at the time, discussing her son’s legal troubles. “He handled that s***, and that’s why I love him because he knew I would have been upset. He went down there, he talked to the people [and] my son never got charged with anything.”

Heavenly and her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes Sr., are parents to sons Damon Jr. and Zachary, 24, as well as daughter Alaura, 20.

“We’re doing pretty good,” the dentist told Us on Saturday about her marriage, teasing what fans can expect in the new season. “It took a lot of courage and a lot of bravery, and I’ll leave it there.”

In particular, Heavenly will open up about her past in vitro fertilization (IVF) journey.

“It was tough. I longed to be a mother. I finally got to that point where that was a deep desire for me, and we decided to go on the journey for IVF,” she said on Saturday while in Sin City for the three-day fan convention. “And yeah, you’ll have to wait and see.”

Heavenly further hopes that sharing her story will be “very encouraging” for fans navigating similar issues.

“People can be very judgmental. We as women, we work so hard to go through school, to get our career started, and then it’s like, ‘OK, we have all of these things, but now we long to be mothers and we’re the babies,’” she said. “And so now you look up, you’re like, 40 or 40-plus, and you’ve never been pregnant before, so it’s difficult. It’s a lot to rest on a young girl. I mean, imagine being 9 years old and coming on your cycle, right? With every cycle, you’re losing your eggs. Why does a 9 year old girl need to think about that? That seems to be unfair, but that’s the harsh reality of it.”

Married to Medicine season 12 premieres on Bravo Sunday, November 30 at 9 p.m. EDT.
